Our next trip to WDW will be around my daughter's 3rd birthday. When she is two, she enters the parks for free. When she turns three, we must pay.

Has anyone ever been asked their children's ages before entering the parks?
Does Disney enforce the age limit for a 3 year-old (or for when a child must pay the adult ticket price)?
If so, how?

If she turns 3 while she's there, the official rule is that she does not have to pay.

This is a really touchy subject that usually turns nasty at one point. The rule is that if your child is 3 before you arrive at WDW then you should pay for a child's pass. Will cast members require a birth certificate when you stroll your daughter through the gates? No. If your child is 2 when you arrive at WDW and turns 3 while you are there you do not have to buy her a pass.

IMO, what you do is up to you. Some people will disagree with me.

If the question is ,"Does anyone asl the child's age at the gate?" the answer is no. I had a similar situation last May when my son turned 3 a week before our visit. I won't say here what we did, because no matter what the answer is someone will be upaet by it. Do what your conscience, your common sense and probably your budget say to do.......and have a great time watching it all through your kid's eyes!!!!!!

I really should learn to proof read! :):o

We intentionally scheduled a trip just before my daughter's 3rd BD so that she would be free. No one asked at the gates, but the issue did come up at some of the character meals. Usually they would charge us and I would have to point out that she was not 3 yet. I do know that if you arrive before the child turns 3, you will not have to pay admission for that trip. I have heard of other people being asked, but I think it is unusual.

We went to MK for two days last week, no one asked the age of my just turned 3 yr old. Some may disagree, but I don't see what difference a few days or weeks make in what my child will experience/enjoy. Some 2 yr olds will get more out of Disney than some 3 yr olds, but you pay for the 3 yr old??? Use your own judgement....

OK I feel the need to tell this story again. This is not a a lesson I want to teach my kids

We took DD to see the movie Dinosaur. As we waiting for the movie to start a little girl behind us starting talking to DD. After a while she asked how old DD was. She then said that she was really 4 but when thye go out she is 2 becasue her Dad didn't want to pay money for her to see a stupid movie.

We went last year when ds was 2.5. We were asked *all the time*! Why? Because he was almost as tall as his 5 yo sister! No joke! He is a big solid child and looks older than he really is. He'll be 3.5 on our next so we will have to be a ticket. I had one person really give me a look when we said that he was 2. I said, "If you don't believe me ask him." So she did. He answered her, "Me wide Momowail!" :) She just laughed and said, "I guess he really is." Of course he was also called "such a cute little girl" all through the parks because we have never cut his curly blonde hair <tee hee>
