I think I remember being in the ladies room in AK near Tusker house and seeing a child size toilet stall. My kids are in the potty training stage (what fun!) and I was thinking of purchasing a portable potty seat. However, if there are lots of child sized toilets in WDW, then I won't bother. What do you think?

I'd get that potty seat. I don't remember any child-sized toilets and you don't want to be running around looking for one at the last second.

We were just there in February and I too didn't see any kid-sized toilets.

And one other word of warning, ALL of the WDW toilets have the automatic sensors so it's hands free flushing. Cool idea, but I learned quickly that my DD (almost 4) is TERRIFIED of it. Because her butt doesn't entirely cover the seat, it's easy for the sensor to detect that the person is finished. I had to keep my finger FIRMLY on the sensor while she went.....one poster on this site suggested taking along a post-it note and just stick it to the wall. I'll have to remember that for next time!

If you don't think that your child can handle a full sized toilet, check out Babie's R Us. When my DD was going through potty training and didn't want to go in a public restroom, we bought this little fold-up potty seat. It has these disposable "liners" and it just sits inside the seat then you throw away the liner. It's a pretty clean setup and easy to do. You can just take it into the stall with you and have your kid go. It was about $15 I think. We kept ours in the van on road trips in case we ever have to pull over.

Was the fold-up potty heavy? Did you carry it with you around the parks? My son is just beginning potty-training (any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!), but I was even thinking of training him LATER to tinkle in a cup lined with a zip-lock. However that doesn't address the need to have a BM. I love the fold-up potty idea, but if its huge and heavy I don't think we will be able to carry it with us.

Thanks in advance for any info.

The only child size pottys I have seen at WDW were in the Baby Centers.

I have seen the little fold up potty seat at Toy R Us. It seemed pretty lightweight and folded up pretty small. Here's one I found online:

The Primo Portable Potty Seat

hth!

We're in the throes of potty training too...

I don't know if is just my DS, but he's intrigued by public potties (probably the novelty of something different) and he also prefers to stand up now that he's getting the hang of it. My DH took him once in public and he insisted on standing so my DH in a pinch had him stand on top of his feet...and viola! it works like a charm for us. I don't think my DS is overly tall either, so as long as you don't have expensive dress shoes on that you don't want scuffed try having him stand on your feet :)

FWIW, we just got back from a trip to FL (non-Disney) and bought a folding seat at BRU, but ended up really not sing it since now he insists on standing (and we're not quite there yet for BMs) The seat itself was about $10 and has Sesame Street characters on it. It folds nicely and worked the two times he did sit on it. It does "give" a little under his weight but my DS didn't have a problem with it (I read some reviews where some kids got freaked out by that). I definitely plan to bring it with us when we go in Sept. since (hopefully!) by then we'll be needing it for BMs. Oh, and when folded it probably is just a bit wider than a wipes case - fit beautifully in one of the inside pockets of my Skip Hop Duo. It came with a zip-loc pouch and I just threw a pouch of Wet Ones and a pouch of Clorox wipes in with it and we were all set. We did try it at home first too, I think it was a good idea to get comfortable with something new at home before setting out with it.

Good Luck!

The one we used is called "On The Go Potty". I didn't see it on Babies R Us website which is where we got it originally. But if you do a Google search and type in that name, you'll find it. It's about $9.50.

You might also try One Step Ahead, seems like they would have it too (they always have cool stuff!).

It's extremely light weight. A few liners and the seat itself wouldn't take up much room at all in your backpack or totebag. My ONLY complaint is that it's so low to the ground but I can't really say it's a complaint because DD didn't have any problems at all....it just looked weird to see her crouch down so low!

Just a warning if you have a boy who still pees while sitting down. We have one of the neat fold up portable padded potty seats from One Step Ahead - the item is also sold on Babycenter. When I tested it at home DS liked it and it is very comfortable, however, the potty seat (and all the portable fold up kinds) do not have the pee guard in the front. The first time DS used it his pee went straight out - I managed to catch some with the toilet paper I had in my hand. Because the seat elevates him, there is no way for us to ensure he could pee in the toilet even if he were to hold his ***** downward; his ***** isn't long enough (yet). Not pleasant when you are travelling. On our upcoming trip I'm just going to bring our regular potty seat (which is one of those that sits on top of a toilet) in a big tote bag and drag it along. It won't add much weight (light plastic), I can fit it in my stroller storage area, and the convenience will be worth it.

Thanks so much, I'm going to get one now for sure. We have until October to get ready, but with the way my son is doing I think it may take forever!!! My little girl was so easy to train. I'm beginning to wonder if its ever going to click for him.

Thanks again for the help.
