My husband and I go to Disney World about once every two years. This year will be the first that we will have our son and he is only 2. We will be there for two weeks and I can not wait to take him to the parks, however my husband and I want desperatly to ride the new attractions that have been added since our last visit. We are staying at the Dixie Landings hotel and have a rental car. I realize that some of the hotels have child activitiy groups but your child has to be 4. I was wondering if it is hard to get your child into the Kindercare there or if my only option is in room babysitting. That seems awful pricey and boring to stick my 2 year old in a hotel room all day while my husband and I go off and play. He will be so bored! We also love to go to Pleasure Island and would feel like we lost out on something if we didnt go this year. DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IS MY POOR SON DOOMED!!
By the way if you have any suggestions on the Dixie Landings (now the Port Orleans Riverside) please let me know. This will be the first year we will have stayed there. :bounce:

We have never used the services but when I called to inquire they said that the sitter would take them down to the play area and would even take them to one of the parks. Of course, you would have to buy the ticket for the sitter to go to the park of your choice.

You might want to call one of them and inquire as to the things that they are able to do. They are pricey but the only other alternative we found was to bring our neice to babysit. That was a lot more than hiring a sitter but well worth it for us.

Well, you have two options.

You can use the Kindercare center, which is open in the day time. Its a daycare center, you bring the child there. I believe its only open until 7 or 8 (not sure on the exact hour) and I know its not open on Sunday, maybe Saturday, too.

Or you can use the in-room sitter. We've used Kindercare before, we have been very impressed. Good, qualified staff. They brought age appropriate toys for my kids. They will take your kids to the parks, or even down to the playground, but when I called the other day to inquire about using their services for the daytime (I have an offsite meeting I have to go to in the middle of the day) I was told that they do not take kids out of the room who are 2 and under.

If at all possible, I would use Kindercare in the evenings, when your child is either sleeping or ready for bed. That way you and your hubby can go out, to Pleasure Island and the parks (depending on what time of the year you are going - the parks are open pretty late in the summer) and you don't have to worry about the child being bored.

but I don't think they'll take your child swimming either. They will take them to the parks, if you provide a ticket for sitter

-we used kindercare in room one night... they were super, she tooks kids down to food court for ice cream and they had a full night of arts, crafts, stories...NO TV..

-one night we took them to neverland club in poly... maybe too young for that???
