Child and Room Issue

I would like to know if anyone has ever booked a room with only a child? I mean is it even possible. For some reason, cat.11 only sleeps 3 and my daughters child would love to come and we'd love to have her along, however, TA says that we are already @ capacity for our room and an upgrade is impossible. I don't understand how when vacationstogo.com has balcony rooms still available. :guilty: I wish their was a way around this. Our cruise is only 23 days away and cancelling and rebooking means $350 fees per person (I am told). Help if possible! THANKS!!!!

They told me.....no that our room is only for 3. I am so upset. I thought I was getting a 4 person room.

I believe you have to have an adult (listed on the booking at least) in the room

If you only had 3 originally in your party, you probably were assigned to a room that only sleeps 3 people. Some of the rooms have a capacity of 3 and some have a capacity of 4. Also, you do need to have an adult as the lead person on a reservation of any cabin, you can't just put a child in another room. It is also possible since you're so close to sailing, even though there are cabins for 4 available, they might be at the lifeboat limit for those muster stations and can't book 4 people in a room. Also, is vacationstogo.com your TA? If not, some TA's get an allocation of rooms, which other TA's don't have access to, which is why your TA can't get you to move up. You could call DCL directly and see what their availability is, but you'd have to cancel your reservation and then pay the higher, current fare for everyone, resulting in a MUCH higher cruise price.

There are some category 11's that can only accommodate 3 guests, but there's the second issue of the age of the child and if the kid's clubs are at capacity.

If that's not the case, I'd ask the TA to continue checking for availability. (I'm assuming that you're willing to pay for the upgrade.)

Don't be misled by websites that show that there are rooms when you're told otherwise. Oftentimes when you actually try to book it, you'll find that it's not available after all.

There's a bit of a misconception regarding how these blocks of rooms, group spaces, work. If the agency has not booked the allotment that they reserved, then it's "recalled" by Disney several months in advance. In layman's terms "use it or lose it." ;)

I don't want anyone thinking that an agency still has a group spot at the 23 day mark.

Thanks for the clarification!!!

Thanks so very much for all the info. I will store this as "lesson learned" and be more aware next time. I have only recently given in to my OCD but allas it was too late. I was more concerned about having a room inside/aft due to dd's motion sickness, than the occuppant number. Next time I know.......again THANKS TO ALL WHO POSTED!!!!! :D
