Part 8 – Day 4 – MVMCP – Auntie has a potty mouth!

The cast:
Me: 34, 2nd trip to WDW (last time was 2001 – but we only did MK 1 day – does that count?)
DW: 36 also her 2nd / 1st real trip
DS: 5, ditto for him;
DW’s best friend: 36, 1st trip, hereafter known as Auntie K

Tuesday December 9, 2003

We get to sleep in! Today is MVMCP night – so no EMH for us today. No alarms, no wake up calls, just sleep, glorious sleep. Until 7:30. At least it isn’t 6:00.

Nobody was in a hurry to get out of bed or out of their jimmies. It was a lounging sort of day. I did manage enough ambition to go down to the food court and fill the mugs. DS used his morning to play and watch Disney TV – If I see that Phil Collins video from Brother Bear one more time…

We learn this morning that certain members of our crew have bathroom issues. Auntie K could use more fibre, shall we say? (I know, too much information – but I had to hear about it firsthand! Only fair that I share.) And Mom has a phobia of public washrooms and a certain bodily function.

I just want to work out the rest of vacation’s schedules – do you guys mind?

The topic first came up Sunday – and now we’re getting updates after each bathroom episode.

“So, any luck?” DW asks Auntie K this morning upon her return to the ‘living room’.

(I know she’s a nurse, but for the love of Mickey, dear – why do you ask these questions?)

“Well” Auntie begins, sounding like she’s about to retell her life story.

“Let’s just say it weren’t no Splash Mountain.”

I told you Auntie K has an acquired sense of humor! Unfortunately when 3 adults share an ALL-Stars room (all 260 square feet of it) they tend to bond in weird, somewhat adolescent ways. Much grossed out laughter ensues. I can only hope the condition improves!

I try to block those two out and concentrate on figuring out the remainder of our week.

We’ve been to the parks 2 days so far; we have MVMCP tonight, and the crew has 2 days remaining on their 4 day PH passes.

We’re not sure about Epcot – although we’d love to see the candlelight processional and Illuminations; MGM is a must for us (gotta find Lilo and Stitch!) and we want to see Fantasmic; Wednesday has been designated an off-day due to tonights late end (probably after midnight) Auntie’s sad that today may be her last time in MK; DW and Auntie had planned to shop off-site Friday and we’re supposed to meet friends from home Friday night for supper; and we have to leave early on Sunday for home.

Where does that leave us? Houston, we have a problem…

The family is very content today to let me worry about the scheduling of events for the remainder of the week. “Just tell us where we’re going” they say, “and we’ll be there with bells on!” It is Christmas time afterall ;)

Here’s what I come up with:

- Today – lounge, swim if weather is decent (heck, we’re from Winnipeg, if its not snowing we’re in!) relax, then MVMCP.
- Wednesday – day off. See the decorations at other resorts, take some pictures, DTD maybe…
- Thursday – EMH at MK (today can’t be the last time we see the castle – besides, I’ve got a PS for noon at Cindy’s! and no one knows yet!) AK after lunch, and catch Mickey’s Jungle Jammin’ Parade, Epcot in evening for CP and Illuminations;
- Friday – EPCOT, try to bump friends meeting to lunch, then MGM for Fantasmic!
- Saturday – MGM;
- Sunday – sniff, sniff, fly home… :(

Problems? That’s 3 days in the parks, and they only have 2 left on they’re passes. (I have an AP)

Solution? Give up an off-site shopping trip, in exchange for Single park, single day admission for MGM on Saturday. All in favor? WOO HOO! It’s like preaching to the choir!

So we headed down to the pool, the weather was cloudy but warm, and the pool was heated anyway, so it didn’t really matter. DS and I had fun in the water Of course he didn’t want to go in at first. Then we couldn’t get him out! A few kids in the pool – not crowded at all, and the pool is large.

Time to shower and start our day. So far, each time we have left or returned to the hotel, DS has stuck his little face to the window of the car as we passed McDonald’s. It’s hard to miss. McDonald’s, not DS’s face on the window. And, since we’ve got time today, and since he needs some down time before tonight (anyone remember yesterday afternoon?) what the heck. We need to eat too, right?

McDonald's at WDW! We sat outside at McD’s and ate on the patio, and the sun came out. Ahh, hot sunshine… DS got a Brother Bear toy in his Happy Meal, so you know he’s doing fine.

We want to catch the MK bus at 3:15 or so; we’re banking on them letting us in early for MVMCP (4:00 ish or so we’ve heard.) Ds wants to bring Stitch and Puppy today – and I get déjà vu. Not again! I nip this in the bud today, and let him bring Puppy only. Mom doesn’t think it’s a great idea, but for the sake of sanity and arriving early, she agrees.

We arrive at the gates at 3:50 and the banner is already up! YAY! We’ve all got our special MVMCP tickets with us, so we get our red wrist bands, and in we go!

The usual routine for us now, stroller, maps, times guide. Just inside the park, on the other side of the railway station, DS spies a Mickey light chaser. He’s still got money left, so he buys it. We stroll through the square, planning on stopping at Emporium to shop a bit more – Auntie apparently can’t decide on a sweatshirt; she’s torn between two. We park the stroller at one of the doors, and all go in. DS’s new Mickey toy isn’t working right, so I run back to the vendor and she swaps it for a new one, no questions asked.

I find the crew inside the store further down, and since DS is looking a little bored, he and I look around on our own. I find a Santa’s hat with Mickey ears – sort of like DS’s Sorcerer Mickey and decide it would be perfect for MVMCP! DS thinks its really funny – even more funny when he sees me in it! The women have moved further along the store, so we go to fetch the stroller and bring it up too. Uh oh.

I’m sure this is where we parked it. This IS where we left it right bud? I don’t know where it went.

We’ve had our stroller nabbed again! But this time we didn’t get one in exchange! This is Disney World. Who steals a stroller in Disney World? I know the place is expensive, but c’mon!!

DS is handling this one okay. He’s been through this before. We didn’t leave anything in it today – which is good (nothing lost) and bad (probably wouldn’t have been taken.) I didn’t even tie the bandana on it. But it did have our name tag inside the plastic pouch.

DW has the receipt, so we find her and tell her the joyous news. Great start to the night! She goes back to the rental area and reports it stolen. The CM asks her if she wants a double stroller.

“No, I had a single.” She tells him.

“Do you want a double?” He asks again.

“No, It was a SINGLE” She says again, wondering why he isn’t listening to her.

“But, Do You WANT a double?” He asks a third time.

DING! “Ohhhh. Well, Sure!” DW feels a little slow.

Now we have tons of room for jackets, backpacks, animals, etc, and DS loves to be able to build a little house in there. That’s the Disney Magic we’ve all come to love. ‘Keep ‘em happy! And they’ll keep coming back!’

Bonus photo!! Our family photo from Donald's Breakfastosaurus! Hey! I'm actually in some of these photos this time!!

You had better start locking up these strollers. Can't wait to hear how you enjoyed the Christmas party.

I love your trip reports! I hope you have a return trip planned soon.

Hi Chico,
I just love your trip reports. My DD, KatDB, told me to read them and I have laughed so hard at the 'way' you have of stating certain 'topics'. Being a nurse, though, I completely understand your wife and her 'questions'. :rolleyes:

Anyways, keep those trip reports coming, they sure :sunny: up my day!
