Chickens and ducks

Any one here keeps chicken and or ducks? If I can get a full plot of an allotment I am thinking of keeping maybe 8 chickens and 4 ducks (for laying and for meat) my allotment group allows these to be kept there.

good for you! I would love to keep chickens but they do make a mess of your garden - allotments are the best lace for them

I used to keep chickens, they were lovely little cluckers. We kept them in our garden and they would try and get in the house whenever they could, hiding behind the curtains and running up the stairs. Oh the adventures that we had.
Then I got my dogs, who would go mental barking at the chickens, thus stripping the free range of my chickens. In the end we gave them away to a friend of my fathers and they now live in a big field with lots of other chickens.

But they are lovely.
Put a mirror in front of one, she'll turn her around and this way and that, trying to figure out what's going on.
