OK, I'm getting really nervous...I am reading all these posts about 'new' chicken strips that are yucky, like a baked type thing?? PLEASE tell me this is not true for all of WDW??! Is this just the ones offered in the kids meals? Or ALL of the chicken strips in the parks? I LOVE these and am getting so upset thinking about ordering my first batch when I go next month and being handed some new strange type chicken strips...anybody had them recently? Last year they were those relly good breaded fried ones, kind of big, and you'd get like 4 of them on top of a pile of fries?? Oh my mouth is watering just thinking of them...please say they are still available, and where?

You are going to be disappointed. My son is 9 and very very picky eater. Chicken strips and PB&J are about it for meals.

In 2007 we were very very happy with WDW and our son was able to order chix strips all over the place. Even when not on the menu

We went in Jan 08 and all was changed. We could not get the chix fingers anywhere sitdown. They claim the fryers were only for fries now. So he would just get an order of fries and that stunk

Counter service, they changed them also and were not good at all. We ended up stocking up on those uncrustables by smuckers and would break them out. Or hit Epcot, Animal Kingdom where he could get Mcdonald nuggets.

I am not mad at disney though. Our son is the picky one and we just have to deal with it. I was just fustrated at the childrens menu being basically a small pizza or a mini version of whatever that resturant had.

We ended up moving around ADR for mostly buffet b-fast as he is much more flexible there and more to eat. As it was slow, we got lucky on changing ADR

But in the end, we only saw MK having the old version of the chix/fries basket.

This will be a very unwelcome change for many I think. People have to speak up with their money as well.

Here's what I'm reading...I'm not at WDW so I have just seen this here.

Some of the children's meals at TS places have breaded, baked chicken strips.

The CS places are changing from chicken strips to nuggets (fried). The nuggets are the same white meat as the chicken strips, but sliced into smaller pieces.

Well guys, this is the result of people wanting "healthier" meals. Disney changed the menus to appeal to the healthier lifestyles and this is one of the results. It's not really Disney's fault, though. Look at the pressure from outside sources to make the changes. Even McDonald's has had to buckle down and go as "healthy" as they can.

I don't like chicken strips at all but this is a sore point for me. I am in the very small minority that needs to maintain a weight and possibly even GAIN weight. I want my calorie laden CHOICES back.

I think some of the problem people are trying to deal with is while they are adding healthier food items they are also cutting back. I don't know 100% for sure, but replacing chicken strips with nuggets seems like it would trim a lot of cost off of Disney's poultry budget each year.

I have a teenager who lives off of chicken strips and burgers when we visit WDW. He is not obese btw; he burns off his calories the old fashioned way - good daily physical activity. Looks like he will be living off of burgers only now when we visit WDW......

On an observational note, is it me, or have the variety, quality and quantity of food served at WDW declined over the years? Just look at the table service menu's for instance, outside of world showcase over in Epcot, you get about the same number of chicken, beef, pork chop and salmon offerings just dressed up a little differently at various table service restaurants - not much variation to speak of. Counter service restaurants that used to offer something unique are loosing their individuality as well - instead of chicken strips, now we'll get lil' chicken pieces. I know this question has been posed before, but pure dollars and cents are driving my thought...If I am paying a flat fee for my dining options at WDW (em, DDP), and " it's such a good value for us, the consumers ", I wonder how Disney could possibly make a profit on their food services..............:confused3

OMG, I can't believe this. Those chicken strips are a WDW staple! I am not remotely a picky eater (we dine at many of the table service locations) and I do like variety in counter service as well. But those are the best chicken strips anywhere! I order them at least once if not twice in a 10 day trip. Probably b/c they're so un-nugget like. And now we're getting NUGGETS?? I supposed I can live with them being scaled down versions of the strips, I normally can't finish them when combined with the fries. But if they're baked or made from some grey mystery meat I will be soooo disappointed. Please Disney, where does it end???

I too am very disappointed! I am one of those primarily "healthy eaters," but I loved those chicken strips and had to get them at least once each trip. They were DD's favorite thing to eat there too.

This really stinks! How are the nuggets any healthier than the strips?!?!

Just e-mailed them and asked them to allow us to make choices for ourselves and our children. Just because there are healthier options doesn't mean they have to take away everyone's favorites.

Hopefully they will be something like the popcorn chicken you can get at some of the fast food restaurants. Smaller, fried, bite size breast meat! Keeping fingers crossed for sure.

No doubt they are not healthier, just smaller.

If they're still breast meat, the only issue is going to be getting a smaller portion for the money, and WDW has been implementing smaller portion sizes for awhile now. If, in order to cut down portion sizes, they remove a strip, it will be immediately noticeable. If they serve smaller pieces of chicken, not so much.

If the new "nuggets" are just smaller versions of the strips - white meat tenders just cut up in smaller pieces - then they will have much more breading to soak up all that fat that they fry them in. Not very healthy!!! Also, all of that breading makes up a lot more volume - as in more breading than chicken. Again - not very healthy, but it sure does Disney's bottom line good!!! I would imagine that is more the issue than being healthy. Breading is a filler to fill you up for less money! That is an old trick a lot of restaurants use - it is just trickling down to the QS meals at Disney!

I have sent in an email too.

We love the chicken strips they are my daughters and my favourite counter service in the World. We will be so disappointed when we visit in May if they are not on the Menu.

I understand perfectly. Special needs children also can be very limited in their food choices. As a parent of one, I can tell you, my son only eats chicken strips (and soft serve ice cream ) at WDW. To me it appears to be about profit - quite frankly I would be willing to pay more for a plate of chicken strips and be able to continue staying on site with a happy child.

If indeed the nuggets are exactly the same meat as the strips - only smaller - what, other than the possibility that you are getting less chicken for the same money, is the problem? Is the shape of the food that big a deal?

Voice your opinion here WDW.Guest.Communications@disneyworld.com maybe if enough people complain we will at least have the choice of nuggets or strips...oh, the difference to ME is that my kids will only eat strips or fingers (and that is one of the only things my 3 year old eats at WDW)...they know that I have always told them they are better tasting and better for you...try to "re-convince" a 3 year old sometime :rotfl2:
