Chicken boy went on the thrill rides and begged to go again!!! **Updated 1/14!!)

Just saying hello _ I subbed last week but didn't have time to read. I just read all of your posts. What a great start!

I love all of your MSEP photos - we did not have good seats at all for this and had I known there was a second parade later, we would have waited for that one. oh well....your photos helped a lot!!

what is it with people thinking its okay to shove in front of you at a parade?

Love your pics of MSEP!! I feel so out of the loop! I've only been able to sneak on the DIS a little bit since we got back from our trip! I still haven't even started my TR! I wish I had been able to coordinate meeting up with you at the parks a couple times! It was great meeting you and Liam for the short time that we could!! :cool1:

I probably spend more time here than I should.:lmao::lmao: I can't wait to read your TR when you start it.:thumbsup2 It would have been great meeting up with you at the parks as well. Oh well, can't cry over spilled milk, right? It was great meeting you for at least a little while at least.:thumbsup2

I've been away from the DISboards for a week... whew! I've got some catching up to do! :surfweb:

Glad to see you back PixieMama. I know what you mean about catching up, I still am trying to catch up with threads that I didn't read when I was gone at Disney. It's hard to catch up when you have been gone for so long.:upsidedow

Thanks Moira222, glad you are enjoying it. I am glad that the photos helped you relive the parade that you didn't have good seats for. I was lucky to learn that there were two showing of the parade that night because of the recording on the train. I guess I should read the show schedule that I grab when I enter the park.:lmao:

I think people tend to get rude when they want to have there vacation be perfect. When things don't work out the way they want them to they start getting nasty. But than they should know not to show up 10 minutes before a show and expect great seats. As it was I was very considerate to the people behind me because I remained sitting through out the show even thought my legs were growing numb.:confused3

So where did we leave off. . .oh yes we had just say the wonderful MSEP.

So I decided to try to play things smart. Instead of trying to fight with the crowds that were now trying to exit the park, Liam and I stayed put and waited for the waves of people dwindle into a calm pool. Or at least calm enough to move through with out being joustled into every direction.

Now we sat almost right infront of the castle, so by the time the parade had passed us by it was about 11:30. Even though we are both tiered and want to to back to the room for sleep, we decide to try to get in a few rides in Fantasyland to shorten our list for Wednesday.:thumbsup2 So we head through the castle on our way to FL.

I start listing rides in fantasyland and ask what Liam wanted to do. He foundly remembers The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh so we decide to head for it. I aimlessly wander FL for a couple of minutes and do not see it, so I finally ask a CM where it is. Funny thing is just after I ask another family asks the same thing. I laugh as I explain that I just asked that myself and becon them to follow us. With the CM's directions we find it with no problem.

Pooh.jpg

We were directed to the fast pass lane. We were able to see the cool stuff in the standby line, but were not able to participate. Liam really wanted to touch the honey wall, but were happy to get on the ride with in about 5 min. As usually the ride was great and we both enjoyed it.

Afterwards we decided to do one more ride and deciced to do Peter Pan's Flight.

P1250733.jpg

We were again sent to the FP/Wheel chair entrance and got on pretty fast. We had just boarded and entered the main ride area when it stopped completly. Liam was a little nervous, but assured him that is was only because a person in a wheel chair needed the ride to stop so they could get in. Not everyone can step into a moving ride. Good thing, because this wasn't the only time a ride stoped. A few minutes later the ride was going again and we were flying over london. Once again we loved this ride and was glad to go on it.:thumbsup2

After Peter we were both very tiered and decided it was time to head home.:cloud9: On our way out we saw this and couldn't resist a pic.:lmao:

WaltDisneyWorld2011094.jpg

With pictures being taken we headed out. I got a little turned around so we went over the bridge by CP instead of through the castle. :confused3 As we left we noticed that the line for Mickey Mouse was 00. So who could resist that? Well obviously a lot of people because there was no line.:lmao: I asked Liam if he wanted to see Mickey, and a smile appeared on his face as he shook his head in agreement. The CM asked to see our KTTW card, it was already after park closing and into EMH, we showed them and were on our way.

There was only one family in front of us so we only waited a couple of minutes. When we got in we were happy to see Minnie was there as well (OK I was, Liam could have cared less.) Mickey wished Liam a happy birthday and seem very excited when we told him that he shared his birthday with Goofy.

WaltDisneyWorld2011095.jpg

And a funny story. As we were heading there Liam told a CM who was walking the other way that he was going to see Mickey. The CM told Liam to say hi to Mickey because they were pals. Mickey was very happy to hear that Paul (the CM) had said hi and that they were in fact very good friends. Liam thought it was cool that I seem to know what Mickey was saying without him actually talking.:lmao:

The bus showed up pretty quickly after we got there and looked as if we would get on, but there were three ECV trying to get on and it was taking for ever for them to figure out how to get them all on. Now I have no problem waiting for handicapped people having a son with special needs, but at this point I was real tierd and just wanting to get back to POP.

A couple of minutes later another bus showed up (they were still trying to get the EVC's on the first bus) and the CM started directing people to go on that bus. Happily we were able to sit and rest our feet for the ride back. The CM directing was very funny and was telling us that the buses would slow to about 5 miles an hour when they were 12 miles off of Disney Property. I guess to prevent bus stealing.:confused3

About 15 min or so later we were back at pop. We walked back to our room ( I was surprise people were still swimming), I had Liam get ready for bed as I found a pop machine to get something to drink. I than went back to the room, took a quick shower (I felt so sticky), put on my eeyore jammies and tried to sleep.

Note that the first couple of nights Liam refused to sleep by himself so we both were in one bed. I ended up using 3 of the 4 pillows with one under my head, one between my legs, and one under my arm as I slept on my side. Being so tierd we were both soon out with the alarm set for early the next day. It was just after 1 am.:cloud9:

Next: Day 2 Epcot. Is Rope drop truely worth it for us?

So I wasn't the only interpreter in the parks that week? :lmao:

Yep, I can speak the unspoken language of the characters as well. :lmao::lmao: Perhaps it was my short time bieng a character handler for Daffy Duck or even shorter time (one parade) of playing Porky Pig.:rotfl:

Wow, a zero wait time listed to see Mickey! Unheard of! And how lucky for you guys :goodvibes

I know right. I couldn't believe it. I think that people were either leaving or trying to get on the rides for EMH. I couldn't believe it when I saw it and was very glad Liam wanted to do it (he had no wish to see any charcters up to this point). The princesses were only 5 min but Liam had no wish to see them. If I would have thought about it I could have seen them for me and Liam could have just waited in line with me. :confused3 I will see them with my DD soon enough.:thumbsup2

Before I started todays update I wanted to backtrack a little because I forgot to mention something about day one. When we got back from MK there was a message on the phone. I started listening to it and noticed that it was for Liam so I handed the phone over to him. I watched him smile and laugh while he listened on the phone, it warmed my heart just watching him. After a couple of minutes he handed the phone back and I asked who it was. He told me it was Mickey Mouse wishing him a Happy Birthday.

So originally I had planned on getting up at 6 am so that we could get to Epcot by Rope Drop. Going to bed the night before I decided that there was no way we were going to be able to wake up at 6 in the morning. So I set our alarm for 6:30 am.:rotfl2: I think it was closer to 7 when we finally rolled out of bed.:lmao:

So I got Liam set up to start his treatment while I got dressed and ready for our day. Than as Liam got dressed, I ran to everything Pop (once again very glad we were so close) and bought our mugs. Unfortunatly we had not had a chance before now. I wasn't even thinking about it when we first got there. With all the problems with our KTTW card we had no time before going to Boma. And by the time we got back to Pop the night before Everything Pop was already closed. We had two choices at that time. Blue and Pink. (Black appeared the next day and yellow never made an appearance.:confused3) It was a pretty easy decision, Pink for Liam and Blue for me. . .Wait!! Hold that and reverse it.:lmao::lmao:

Bringing our new mugs filled with drink back to the room, we ate a breakfast of Pop Tarts and fruitbars and were on our way to catch the bus to Epcot.:thumbsup2 Somehow I left my daily planner back in the room when I packed our park bag. This will be an issue later on during the day. I guess you will just have to stay tuned to find out what happens.:rolleyes1

The bus was already at the stop when we got there. I quickly folded up the stroller and boarded. One more family got on after us and we were off. Though the bus was far from being full, most of the seats were taken with people on there way to Epcot. This was one of the only times during our trip that Liam didn't make a new friend on the bus trip.:goodvibes

We got to Epcot just past 8 am, went through the bag check with little problems and was soon waiting by the gate for the park to open. Though we were not the first ones there, there were only a coulple of families in front of us. Liam decided to take this time to take a picture of me. I know you already saw this pic for intros, but it doesn't hurt to see it where it comes during our TR.

WALTDISNEY2011007.jpg

I took this picture in response to his.:thumbsup2

WaltDisneyWorld2011096.jpg

He also took this one of the "giant golf ball". Ah, my son the buding photographer.

WALTDISNEY2011008.jpg

About 10 minutes before 9 am they had us countdown from 10 and opened up the gate. Now let me explain that I had heard it was best to try to get to one of the lines for TT or Soarin' first (or at least get a FP), but while everyone was running in a frantic sprint to the rope drop area Liam and I took our time and asked a Photopass person to take our pics. We still haven't got our CD yet, but Liam did hand him his camera so he could take a couple pictures.

WALTDISNEY2011010.jpg

He turned the camera the other way and took another pic, when he handed the camera back to Liam he explained that he had taken one with the Tron monorail in the background.:thumbsup2

WALTDISNEY2011011.jpg

As we headed on our way toward the Land Pavillion (going to try to get on Soarin'), I became a little worried about the hords of people who were making there way in the same direction. Unfortunatly some people were not kind, some were pushy and rude and if one more person thought it was alright to cut off the stroller and than slow down I was going to :scared1::scared1:.

By the time we got to the rope drop area we were now about 20 or more feet away from the actually rope. I was now wondering if it was worth getting there so early.:confused3

So cool that you and Liam got the pics with Mickey and Minnie and no line to boot!!!! :woohoo:
We were in the crowd of people trying to leave MK. It was crazy. I wish we could of have stayed for the EMH, but I wasn't feeling too hot and we were all extremely tired. We did a portion of our driving to the park that morning and were tired!!! MK was our first day, so I am going to go into more detail on my next installment on my TR.
Cannot wait to read more about your adventures! popcorn::

You posted your next installment while I was commenting on your MK one. I was surprised to see some new pics when I posted it. :lmao:
Great start to our Epcot day! You wild woman, sleeping for an extra 30 minutes!!! :rotfl2:
I totally know what you mean about the rudeness of people at the parks. I do not remember that so much in the past and it seemed like a lot of them didn't speak English. (not to be rude) I am just making an observation.
Cannot wait to read what lies ahead for you two in Epcot!!! :cloud9:

It was definatly a magical moment when we saw Mickey with no wait. Some magicaly Pixie Dust to an already magical day.

That crowd leaving the park was crazy. I am glad we decided to wait for at least a little while just to avoid that crowd. We were very tierd also having just arrived in Florida. It is amazing how much travel can exhaust you. Can't wait to read your TR update!!!

You don't have to wait long to read an update here. I must have been finishing my update when you wrote your post. (Funny how that happens sometime) Hope you enjoy it.

To anyone who read this post before I fixed it. . .Sorry I had to deal with a family dispute and my son had stepped on the keyboards, erased what I had written, wrote nonesense, and posted it. LOL!!!

Hay, that isn't fair! you should have kept a sample of the 'nonsense' for us to 'read'! :lmao:

And than you wrote this comment while I was commenting on your last comment.:lmao::lmao: Funny how that sometimes happens. I have sometimes found comments days late when I am reviewing my thread that I missed because they were commenting at the same time I was composing my post.:rotfl2::rotfl2: That is why I only post an update every other day. . .that and I want to drag out this TR for as loooonnnngggg as I can.:rotfl::rotfl:

What a perfect ending to your MK day!

I hope that being a little behind didn't make your wait too long atthe rope/soarin.

I have to ask, because you have (some) experience- how do you stay cool in that costume?

It was definatly a perfect ending to our day. Got to love that Disney Magic.

I guess you will just have to read the next instalment to find that out. (giving my imitation of my most evil laugh right now) BWAHAA!!!

I do have very little experiance in that department. All I can tell you is that you don't. At least when I was in Porky I didn't. Upon returning after the parade was over we all sat in airconditioned rooms, with fans on us, drinking down large glasses of water to replenish what we sweated out.

I have a little more experiance keeping cool in a hot costume playing a courtier in full Ren garb following a horse on foot holding a goblet for a 15 minute parade. It was than followed by a 20 minute show on a stage that had no shade. That was brutal. To explain, I acted in a local Ren faire in Wisconsin for 9 years. For most of those years I played Elizabeth , Lady Stuart, Countess of Lennox. One of my jobs (not the whole time) was to carry the goblet for Queen Elizabeth in the parade where she rode a horse. And to finally answer the question that I got a thosand times. . .I am wearing a hoopskirt, chamise, three skirts, a corset, and a bodice with sleaves, most of this is made of bracaid, in the middle of summer. . .Of course I am hot in this!!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Goodness, that was good to get off my chest!!!

And to stay cool. . .you learn where to apply ice to cool the body down, to stay hydrated in hot weather and I always had a V8 before the parade to replenish the salt in my body that I was about to sweat out.

Love the parade pics! :lovestruc Liam's yellow shirt at MK is really cute. Can't wait to hear the rest of your Epcot day...

Thanks Kari, I got the design off of the DISigner thread and they add his name on for me. I loved being able to do my own shirts for out trip. I will be updating our Epcot day real soon.:thumbsup2

That is so cool that you got to get behind the scenes!

I thought I had seen on a Walt Disney World - behind the scenes type show, that they used cold packs or something in the costumes. Maybe I have lost my mind, too! I think it would be miserable having to walk around in those heavy costumes in the Florida heat and humidity. It sounds like you did your share of suffering, too. The show MUST go one heat or not....right?

So we were about 20 feet away from rope drop, we could see the characters come out but not hear them so at that point I didn't even bother with the rope drop show.

I told Liam that we were about to get going and to keep his hands and legs inside the stoller at all times.:lmao:

Within a couple of minutes we were on our way and headin slowly to the Land Pavillion to go on Soarin'. Unfortunalty the rudeness of people were not getting any better. While the CM's were walking the rope, some people were getting real pushy about getting in front and unfortunatly people pushing strollers seemed to be there main target.:headache:

When we got into the Pavillion there was an older CM there directing all the people to take the stairs to the right side of the building. He pulled us to the side and started talking to us. First he pointed out where the elevator was, he than than showed us where the movie was and Sunshine Season's if we were hungry. He suggested that we get FP's for Soarin' and than go on the boat ride. I thanked him for the information and headed toward the elevator and toward one of my favorite rides.

soarin-1.jpg

soarinresizedfiltered.jpg

When we got off the elevator we saw lines for the ride and lines for the FP and were completly confussed to where to go. I asked the nearest CM where we should go and he directed me to the FP lane for the ride.

They had miss counted how many people were in the boarding area so we had to wait for the next flight and got to see Patrick's preboarding recording twice. No problem, because soon we were entering the theatre. We were in the first row in the last two seats to the right of the threater. Great that we didn't have any feet dangling infront of us.

This is one of the rides that Liam was not sure if he wanted to go on. He down right refused to go on it in 2009 but was willing to try it this time for me. The beginning part that rises you up wasn't his favorite part, but he loved the actually ride. He really liked how you could smell the pine and orange trees. He also loved how the golf ball seemed to fly out as us and the fireworks over DL.

After Soarin' I noticed that it was about 9:30 and we didn't have alot of time to go on a ride in another pavillion if we wanted to meet some DISers at 10:15, so I asked Liam if he wanted to try the boat ride that the CM was talking about. He agreed and soon we were in the short line to ride. . .

oct2010193.jpg

I wasn't sure if Liam was going to like this ride, but he really seemed to like that he was learning something on it. He also seemed intrested in the fact that the food that they grew there would be used in the food they served at Epcot. Knowing that we were eating later at Coral Reef, we was asking me if some of the diffrent plants were there.:thumbsup2

Here are a couple of pics, sorry if they are out of order.

We both enjoyed the ride and thought it was very intresting how they were able to grow the food and raise fish in desert like conditions.

Reliezing that it was close to 10 am and it was time to head to Spaceship Earth and meet up with some Disfriends. Or at least that was the plan.

Liam wanted to go on the ride right away, but I told him we were waiting for friends. I than got a text that one on off my DISmeets was not going to happen because they had had bus problems and would not be able to make it.:guilty:

I tried to text mtgirl29 with no response. (She called later but I didn't hear my phone.:confused3) I waited till 10:30 and figured that it wasn't going to happen this time so we decided to go ahead and go on the ride. We were directed to the wheelchair entrance. We waited inside for about 10 minutes inside before they brought us to the loading area. This is one of those rides that you got to do at least once even though it is the same thing every time.

Cathy001.jpg

009.jpg

As the night before with Peter Pan, our ride came to a stop right at this point.

DSC00014.jpg

Liam got a little nervous that the ride broke down. I explained that it was the same as Peter Pan and they were probably loading someone in a wheel chair on that couldn't get on a moving ride. He seemed fine with this and we were soon moving again.

We enjoyed the games inside for about a half of an hour and than dicided to head to The Seas with Nemo and friends.

We did it again. :lmao::lmao:

I only played Porky once for a parade and that was 15 or more years ago so I am sure that they have ice paks or something now. Unfortunatly they didn't at that time. All I know is I don't complain when the characters take a break because I know that the person inside needs to cool off.:thumbsup2

I definatly know how it feels to be in couch fabric in 90 degree weather.:lmao::lmao: I am going to have to try to find a picture of me in my ren faire costume and show you what I looked like.:thumbsup2
