One of the reasons people boycott them - myself included - is because although the owner claims he doesn't have an anti-gay agenda, he has said that he believes in the "biblical definition of marriage", and has donated millions to anti-LGBT groups. It is absolutely his right to hold those beliefs, and it is absolutely every individual's right to eat somewhere else.

But that's just my opinion, and they're allowed to have their own opinion evenn if I disagree with it. The grocery stores in Canada are awful. At least the 3 chains that we go to. They don’t bag and charge 5 cents for each bag. If Publix was here they would really hurt the other grocery stores. I had never heard of charging for a bag.

It’s crazy. I don’t think Farm Boy charged. I would be wanting my customers to fill up on as many bags as they had money for. Not charging them a per bag fee to do it. in many ways Canada holds itself back. Especially in your area.

I guess I have not heard any of that. We have had their food maybe 3 times, we just don't really care for it. I don't like to hear that they discriminate. I think that is the big problem with many religious based companies. They have to shove their personal beliefs on others.

But their bakery and deli are on point. Publix fried chicken is delightful. And their deli sandwiches and baked goods too.

Understood but here, there's really no "upscale" places where you can even buy the kind of service that used to be standard 15 years ago. As far as @dish rag 's comments about the bags, well, it's an environmentally-sensitive initiative exactly like the elimination of plastic straws. The changes aren't legislated, they're implemented by the retailers themselves and it is accepted, if not welcomed. We're all adapting. It does seem like these issues are more front-and-centre here than in the States.

You are the one that brought it up, why would you make a claim if you aren't willing to back it up with some factual evidence?

I'm not sure why you're being so rude. I stated my opinion and stated that other people are welcome to their opinion. I have zero desire to "fight" about somethign as dumb as a fast food restaurant.

Not trying to argue with you but the company itself does not discriminate.

They DID give money to organizations that supported discrimination on the marriage issue. BUT they have since stopped giving money to these organizations. Except for the Christian Athletes organization. And a statement was made that they would leave the decision of marriage laws up to the government.

Please read my post above. They have stopped those donations. And they do not discriminate in their stores.

Also please remember that CFA are all individually owned. They have to agree to abide by the CFA standards but they are not a chain, they are locally owned small businesses.
