My husband and I are considering a Chicco umbrella stroller (at target online) because they recline and are compact. What are your thoughts or opinions in these. Thanks.

Babiesrus is having their month long babysale right now. It is cheaper there than Target right now! You can get it online for $40!! We bought this one 2 years ago for our Disney trip- we wanted a cheaper lightweight one to take. We were able to get it on sale for $20- it was well worth that price. It is easy to fold - but not so easy to stay folded- you have to use this little clip(I prefer the Combi for that reason) I still use this one with my new baby. It is lightweight and I don't worry about it disappearing. The recline is not the greatest, but it works. If it is for a slightly older child I say go for it. Our has held up very well. Lasted through 3 Disney trips so far.

Any other thoughts or opinions on an stroller less than $80 that is lightweight, reclines, and is possibly an umbrella stroller?

Which Chicco stroller are you thinking of? The Capri/Caddy is more like a beefy umbrella stroller. The Tuscany is a bit more expensive and gets better reviews.

I bought the Chicco Capri and found that even though it has taller handles than a regular cheap-o umbrella I was still constantly kicking the wheels and had to be slightly hunched over to walk behind it. It's ok for short trips but I realized quickly it would drive me nuts using it all day at WDW. I bought it before BRU started carrying the Tuscany. I might have considered that one if it had been available. It's more Maclaren-like IMO (although it only has a 37lbs weight limit whereas the macs go up to 55lbs). We ended up buying a Kidco LS2000 for about $100 off of Ebay (again before I saw the Tuscany, lol).

You might also consider the Jeep Wrangler umbrella strollers. I've seen some positive reviews of those and they are fairly inexpensive.

hth.

I had the Chicco caddy first and liked it until I got a Maclaren Triumph. Maclaren is better all around. Like a pp, the chicco didn't stay folded well. I love my truimph, I love how easy and quick it folds up.

I too am considering buying a new stroller for our upcoming trip. I think I am going to get the Chicco caddy because it reclines. I was considering the McLauren volo but that does not have a reclining feature.

We have 2 Capris and love them!! We bought them specifically for WDW & they worked out great. Still use 1 of them for my younger DS here at home

I absolutely love my Chico Tuscany. I bought it in Oct 04 and DD is now Two.. and I use it ALL the time, it went to Disney with us last April and went w/ us to the amusement park many times this summer.. I highly recommend.. A great product for the price...

Funny, I have the exact same experience. I got the Chicco awhile back and have been mostly satisfied with it, but had 2 complaints: 1) the "sun shade" protector on the top falls off if you pull it back, yet my not quite 3-year old was already hitting it with his head so I had to pull it back. It was a pain to constantly be putting it back on. 2) No basket (enough said)

I got really lucky and just found the Maclaren Triumph on clearance at Target 75% off (only paid $35) and I LOVE IT! I've been through quite a few strollers and this is the best one I've ever had. It steers like a dream, is lightweight, folds up easily...and it has a basket! Also, the sun protector on that stroller is really high. I don't know how old your child is, but the Maclaren fits my older toddler much better then the Chicco did. I know I won't need this stroller for that long, but I know I'll be able to resell it when I'm done for what I paid. I'm going to enjoy using it while I can!

The Chicco is definitely nicer then the plain-jane umbrella strollers out there, but I'd take the Maclaren over it any day.

We purchased a twin Chicco Velocita (?) for our 4 yo and 18 month old children last year and we were very pleased... :thumbsup2 We have a Schwinn double jogger at home and use it often, but felt it was too much to take on our vacation...So, a Disney stroller we bought! We were very happy with the convenience of the foldability and durability of the Chicco stroller...It worked out perfectly for us and our kids were very comfortable! (And it came with the rain cover and all!!!) Good luck shopping! :wave2:

We have two Chicco Caddys and really like them.

We purchased them last May specifically for WDW and plan to re-use them this year. Our children are petite, & our DD doesn't yet weigh 40 lbs. I don't know how well the Chicco Caddys would work w/ larger children - which would be one advantage to the Maclaren which are supposed to be fine for children up to 55 lbs, I think.

Had our children been younger, I probably would have purchased a Maclaren or something like that. However, knowing that our children only had a couple more "stroller" years left, I was looking for a less expensive option. We purchased ours at Babies-R-Us for $49/each. When our DD was born, we had a really nice "travel-system" stroller, and, then after our DS was born, we had a really nice front-to-back double stroller - in addition to a couple of umbrella strollers, so I just felt kind of silly purchasing another nice stroller (expensive) stroller when they were about to outgrow strollers anyway.

The Caddys are really light-weight. My DH who is 6.2 doesn't have any problem pushing them, and I at 5.0 don't have any problems w/ them either. They don't have baskets, but the sun-shade has pockets on either side and, if I remember correctly, the seat has a back pocket as well. We carried a messenger bag w/ us to the parks w/ all our "stuff" , and, when DH or I got tired of carrying it, it slipped onto the back of the stroller w/ no problem. We carried the bag w/ us onto rides/attractions. The Caddys don't have cup holders either, but we purchased 2 cup holder attachments for mine & DH's drinks. And the water bottles that I had bought for DD & DS had clips on them which we clipped to the stroller.

I thought the Caddys folded up nicely - although it did take me a few times to get the hang of it. After the 1st day, we quit using the carry-bag - too much trouble.

Anyway, we were well pleased w/ our Caddys.

ITA! I hated that sunshade thing, total hassle. Wow, $35 bucks! That's a steal! :cheer2:

I have been looking at this stroller? I was concerned about whether an older child would be comfortable in it? Ds will be 2 yrs 9 mo when the new baby arrives, but whatever stroller purchase I make I want to be able to use it for probably 2 years. Is that reasonable with this one? We dont use it every day, but for walks around here, the mall, and any future disney trips, I would like to have the option to use it for a little while.

Any opinions would be great.

Oh, and unless i get a 75% off deal, Maclearans are out of the question, regardless of how much better they are. :guilty:

I've had my Maclaren for 3 years now & love it. We got it for my DS when going on a cruise & I haven't used my big stroller since. He's 4 & my DD is almost 2 so we plan on buying a second Maclaren for our Disney trip in August!
