I am going to Chicago on Thursday. I will be there through Monday morning but most of my time will be tied up in a conference. I have Thurs night, Fri day, Sat night and Sun night free. Can anyone tell me what I should see in this limited time? I went once before and again, did not have much time but did eat at Bubba Gumps on the Navy Pier. I enjoyed that.

I will be staying at a Marriott near O'Hare, I would also like some restaurant suggestions -want to get some real Chicago pizza! We have UNO's here but I have heard the original is different. Any recommendations for this or any other restaurants?

Thank you!!

Our favorite treat is the cheese and caramel popcorn from Garrett.

Be sure to pack some clothes for warm weather. It's supposed to be hot and may even hit the mid 90's this weekend! :scared1:

Is Garrets on the Navy Pier? I have to cram everything I need into a carry on so summer clothes are good!

Lou Malnati's has good deep dish, I'm not sure if they have a location near the airport but there should be a few downtown. You can check their website www.loumalnatis.com

You can also call your hotel, ask to speak to the conceirge desk, they should be able to recomend restaurants both near the hotel and downtown.

Thank you, Gino's East looks great and close to our hotel. May go eat on Navy Pier also.

You'll get several different answers on the "best" Chicago pizza. I can't stand Gino's East, never had Uno's or Lou Malnatis. Giordanos http://www.giordanos.com/ is our favorite, there is one on Higgins right near River Rd, so close to your hotel too.

As for other places to eat, I like Portillo's for Chicago-style hot dogs. Al's has a good beef sandwich. Check out this link http://abclocal.go.com/wls/channel?section=resources/lifestyle_community/food/restaurants&id=7098198 for one of the news channels "food guy" and his picks. It does have a lot of info on it, but I am sure you can find some types of food you want to try and see what places he recomends.

ETA ~ My husband is staying up in Rosemont for work, and a bunch of guys in his group went here last night, said it was very good. http://www.theram.com/illinois/rosemont.shtml Another place on Higgins, just past River Rd.

Go to Cuzzin's in Des Plaines on River Road and Oakton. Its about 5 minutes from your hotel. Down home Italian food. This restaurant is only a couple months old. They have another place called Danny's Deli in Melrose Park (it used to be a deli, but evolved into a restaurant).

You will NOT be disappointed. Please please go there. :goodvibes

Thanks again, now I am hungry! I will try as many as I can. We won't have a car so that may limit us.

Yes, there is a Garrett at Navy Pier as well as several other locations.
Here's link to the locations.

Friday may be a bit crazy with the celebration for the Blackhawks, Blues Fest is going on and the Sox will be playing the Cubs at Wrigley! Oh MY!

You are not kidding about Friday being wild! We stayed in the hotel room and watched until the Blackhawks celebration was over. We walked from Millenium Park to Navy Pier (anyone know how far that is?) We were tired and hot so ate at Bubba Gumps and then realized it was time to start back to the hotel!!

We did try both Gino's East and Giordino's - I would have to give the edge to Giodino's. But that may also be because we ate it in the hotel (delivery) while watching Toy Story 1 and 2!!

The weather was weird, was supposed to be hot so packed all light clothes, then after Friday it was cold!

May be there again next year, will try to do more then!!
