I never heard of it either and I lived in Chicago my whole life

somehow I recall places in Europe doing this for ages, but I dont know where or how I heard it before

The Gap headquarters here has had a green roof for about 10 years. It's so pretty when it turns green, but in the dry season it's not so pretty.
