Visiting for the second time in April. Stayed at Sequoia Lodge last time and thought it was perfect, perfect location but on a tighter budget this time and staying for a whole week:D

Which one do u think is better? Both work out the same price. Walking distance, is it really much further than SL, and is the walks pleasant enough?

It depends which theme is more to your taste, and also whether bunk beds and a double bed in the room would suit you better than 2 double beds. Apart from those 2 things, both hotels have the same facilities, and are directly across the Rio Grande from each other, so are the same distance from the parks as each other.

The walk is very pleasant in nice weather - from the parks you go through the Disney Village, past the lake and the Hotel New York, then follow the Rio Grande river. Its 15 minutes, 20 if you're ambling.

It's a couple of minutes longer going along the river. Stayed in both, love the cars theme of Santa fe and it's newly refurbed, although outside isnt much to look at. Hate the bar though as its no atmosphere. Can't fault it other then that.

Cheyenne is better themed outside

mmm decisions decisions, bunk beds would be good but not overly important. I cant even remember seeing a river when we were there in 2010, remember the lake as sl sits right by it:rotfl:

We've stayed in both and both and like them equally. Cheyenne definitely has the better theming. Last time we stayed at the Santa Fe they also had bunk beds this was in a refurb room.

I like them both too, Cheyenne has the better themeing but the newly refurbed rooms at Santa Fe are better IMO

We have stayed at both of these in the past and prefered the Cheyenne as the theming was nicer that Santa Fe. We are going to DLP again in March and this time we are staying at the Santa Fe again but this time to experiance the refurbished Cars themed rooms and because it worked out cheaper for a 6 night stay.

Both hotels are opposite each other along the Rio Grande river and it takes about 20 mins to walk to the parks for either of them.

Cheyenne better theming, easier to understand hotel layout, is it just me or is SF really complex ?
We had awful experiences with breakfast last January at SF, I have never seen queues like the ones at SF and despite it being an exceptionally quiet time. :confused3

In it's favour though you have the refurbed rooms and the Cars theme is popular with younger visitors, staff were really helpful and accomodating. I'd agree that the bar at Cheyenne is more inviting and the resident band is very good :)

I wouldn't say the walk is any different. The river goes off the lake in between SL and HNY, we almost always walk back and for the parks, but at SF I don't think I'd have found my way back to the room on my own, even at the end of the week. :confused3

I've stayed at Santa Fe and it's rather soulless, I haven't stayed at Cheyenne but have walked around it and it's definitely the one I'd pick of the two now. The theming is much better. Just be aware the kids beds are bunk beds, that's the major difference from the Santa Fe.

I too have stayed in both and personally prefer the Cheyenne.
The Santa Fe is really complex to navigate and we had trouble parking my car near by. I think we had one of the older rooms, it was OK, but a little tired. We were very lucky with breakfast, but when we left each day they were fighting for food and queuing back to reception to get in! I've never seen anything like it! All in all, it's OK as a base to sleep in.
The Cheyenne is well themed, laid out really well, you don't have to fight with vehicles to get the the restaurant, breakfast time was organised well and the bar area was peaceful too.
I guess it depends on what you want from your hotel.
