Hi fellowndisboarders!

Hope you are all well!

We are returning to DLP next year and planning on staying in the Cheyenne. Has anyone ever eaten in the hotels diner before? We're just curious of what the buffet lunch and dinner compromises of.

Thanks all!

Hiya,

The DW and I stay at the Cheyenne pretty much every time and we eat at the Chuck Wagon. The first time we were to eat there we read the bad press it got and was concerned, but we think its really nice!

The food includes Tex Mex, (ribs, chilli, chicken drumsticks, etc) as well as chips, pizza, pasta, etc. I think there is enough to eat, even for the fussiest of eaters! (Aka the wife! Lol). Plus it's always been hot when we have eaten there and replenished often

As for the desserts, the usual gateaux's, jellies, etc means that, in my opinion, it is the most cost effective restaurant there

the food is yummy at the evening buffet, we prefer it to any other buffet ( expect hotel new York) but we hardly eat at the buffets at night time, its usually in the day time when we are most awake to fill up :)

We ate here twice and didn't enjoy it either time. The food wasn't replenished enough to meet the demand, it wasn't very nice at all and only limited choice. The food gave us a upset tummy on our second visit so we haven't returned since. This was in 2011. It may have changed since then but this put us off.

We visited the buffet for the first time in July and were really impressed with it. I think I did I write up, probably in the Cheyenne review section of the board.

The food itself is quite satisfactory, but the reason we will not go back is due to how busy it gets.

We went one night in March 2012 and had to queue up to get in for 45 minutes WITH a reservation! Once in, we had to deal with massive hoards of people fighting over the food that was available. We witnessed two grown women arguing over the last bit of chicken.

The food is replenished often, but from the way certain people act it felt like they believed that when it's gone, it's gone! It was also a bit of a nightmare to find a table to sit at as the tables weren't cleared once people left and others families were taking over 2 or 3 tables without any CM asking them to sit together to save space for others.

I'm not usually one to give up on a restuarant after one bad experience, so on our trip in March this year we headed there again, but the moment we saw the queue to get in snaking around the outside of the restuarant we decided against it.

I would personally recommend either Billy Bobs in the Village (similar type of food) or the Buffet in HNY, both slightly more expensive but, in my opinion, a vastly improved dining experience.

Thanks guys. Something to think about. Are there set times for evening Buffett?

I believe dinner starts at 6pm and goes through to 11pm. It's busiest between 7 and 9 so if you can go earlier or later, I would! :thumbsup2

Think how busy will depend on the time of year, if you're trip is low season when parks close earlish i'd expect queues. In July, we had a res. At 7.30 on Saturday night and walked straight in, in fact i'd say the restaurant was two thirds empty. Agree with Happy Panda i also preferred Billy Bobs buffet :)
