I would like to hear about your Trailblazer...the good and the bad.
We need to purchase another vehicle for a family of 5 and DH wants me to look at the Trailblazers. I have no idea what I want, we have not purchased a vehicle in 11 years. My biggest concerns are having enough room for 5 and not buying a gas guzzler.
Thanks!

Don't do it. I'll never own another Chevy again and we used to be tried and true GM drivers.

I may have to fight DH on that...he is a Chevy guy.
I have a Windstar and got 168,000 miles out of it, but DH is looking at Chevys.

That's what I'm in the market for a Toyota Highlander. :thumbsup2

He might not be a Chevy guy if (like us) had to put a new engine in one that only had 60,000 miles on it. It wasn't a Trailblazer, just a regular Blazer. The warranty ofcourse expired a few months before the engine failed.

We've had our trailblazer for about a year now and we absolutely love it! We only have 2 kids but one is still in a carseat and I am even able to sit back there with the boys. I am only 5'3 but our car has the running board so it's easy to get in. The trunk is very large. I truly can't think of any negative. We've driven it twice to Disney in a year and it got pretty good gas mileage. Good luck! Barbara

I was at the Toyota dealership the other day looking at camry and prius and I checked out the highlander/highlander hybrid and it's so nice! :cool1:

We have a 2004 EXT (room for 7), and we love the room it provides. It does eat gas of course, although it's just a v8. We have had repeated problems with the air not working. They have replaced elements in the steering column several times and it seems to be holding now - part of a circuit or something. Otherwise, nothing big.

I love mine! :thumbsup2 The average mpg (highway and city combined) on mine is 15. Any big car guzzles gas. If you're too concerned about gas, you may look into a crossover like an Equinox. Trailblazers come in the regular and extended cab versions, so you may look at both to see how much room you will need. Also check out: www.carmax.com where I bought mine! It's 4WD in great shape, it had 17,000 miles on it, and I paid $18,000.

And www.kbb.com www.cars.com

Good luck!

Ok, all of you with 2 kids and opinion, go away :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: it just isn't the same! With 3 kids you NEED 3 rows of seating or the kids TOUCH in the car and you spend your entire time in the car listening to "MOOOOMMMM he's touching me" :lmao: :lmao: . only kidding, mostly.

We looked at the Trailblazer and why we didn't purchase it was that if you have the 3rd row you have zero storage space behind that row. We need room for luggage, etc. when we travel and just things like trips to the grocery store, you couldn't fit much back there compared to a van.

Many of the newer models like the suburban have some fancy engine thing that shuts off pistons or something like that ( I am not a car expert) that is supposed to give you better mileage. I think someone here has one and they are getting something like 30 MPG around town???? You might want to look into something like that.

I am on my second leased Trailblazer. I really do like them but with 3 kids I would get the EXT. When my lease is up I will be getting a minivan just because I want the sliding door. When DH's car dies (which hopefully will not be soon) he has been instructed to get a Trailblazer. That way I can still have a 4X4 for the winter but my van for the summer.

We have a 2004 EXT LS, and we absolutely love it! We were very nervous about buying a GM product, as we are huge Toyota fans. We got a great deal on '04, bought it used in '05 for literally HALF what it cost new.

There were some electrical problems in earlier models, but the '04 and up seems to have worked them up. We love having the folding 3rd row seats.

It is my understanding that GM is killing the Trailblazer and the Envoy at the end of 2007 or 2008 for lagging sales and the desire to push mid-size trucks like the the new GMC Acadia.

I think they are coming out with a Hybrid Envoy so it would seem they plan on keeping that around.

I drive a 1998 Chev Silverado, which I bought new. It has 130,000 miles on it, and I have just recently had to replace the fuel pump. No other problems.

My daughter and I bought a used 2002 Trailblazer (not the extended one) about 2 years ago, and it has never been in the shop. She has taken it to college (about 5.5 hours away), and I think it is a good safe car for her to drive.

My sister drives a Durango that now has 160,000 miles on it. She is having some transmission problems but has been very happy with it. She has 3 seats in hers, so her kids don't have to be touching each other :rotfl: I grew up with 3 siblings......I remember those days, but we had a two seat station wagon with no air conditioning!

I like the Chevy products, especially those in the truck class.

Thanks for all the info!
I am thinking that the Trailblazer may not be for us...For my sanity, we need the 3rd seat! 3 kids just cannot sit right beside each other. By having the 3rd seat it sounds like we will lose all the storage...with sports equipment and band instruments we need storage.
Now, all I have to do is convince DH that this may not be the vehicle for us.

Those of you with 3 kids (and a dog) what do you drive?

okay I have 1 kid and 7 dogs and I have a 2003 trailblazer..LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!! It drives like a car, but is bigger than a blazer (we have 1 of those too).
DH used to be a diehard Ford man, but I am a Chevy girl and I have converted him to my side!!!

It sounds to me like you need a minivan. That's about your only option for 3 kids and storage, other than an RV. lol

I have a 2005 Chev Trailblazer and love it!!!! I can't comment on the kids part because we don't have any, but its a nice vehicle and gets decent gas mileage. You might want to look at mini vans for more room with kids but the Trailblazers so have the option of the third row seat. If I were going to get another vehicle I would probably buy a Tahoe because I want a Nav system. :)
