A bad chest cold is going around work, and I got it real bad, upper repertory is all clogged up! So a girl at work says to me "Get some Tiger Balm and rub it on your chest".

Took some finding, it's next to the Ben Gay at my drugstore, and it says it is for muscle pain. But low and behold, I rubbed some on my chest and 10 minutes later I could finally breathe for the first time in three days!

Anyone else ever used this product?

and I am gonna try some of this tomorrow..hope I can find it at the local PharmaCare..thanks!

I've inhaled it while I've been congested-it's awesome for my spinal issues, too.

That cold is definitely going around here. I had it 2 weeks ago, and now both kids are almost done with it. I never thought of Tiger Balm, but we use Vicks Vapor rub...Something to think about for the next time..:scratchin

Hope you get better soon  :goodvibes

Tiger balm is the best. Love that stuff for sore muscles and colds alike. I'm quite partial to the smell too, but know it's not for everyone.

It is great for headaches too - apply directly to the forehead (sorry, I had to say that-lol) and the temples and close your eyes for about 5 minutes and poof - headache gone.

:thumbsup2

Glad you are feeling better and wish you a speedy recovery :goodvibes . My elderly SisIL swears by Tiger Balm for whatever ails her and actually keeps it in her purse ;) !! For believers, it is know as the 'miracle salve' as it's used for everything from aches and muscle strains, colds, headaches, bug bites, etc. and comes in several forms: salve, patches and even tea.

We buy ours at the health food store for DH's osteo arthritis and my occasional headaches/back ailments. Altho it has a potent smell, the mild herbal based ingredients and warmth supposedly helps blood flow and whether mentally or physical it really does seem to help. After all, it is one of the top analgesics the Chinese invented, having been used for over 100 years! :goodvibes

Mommasita, Ditto on the Vicks Vapor rub! My Mom swore by this for us and I still use it! I prefer the Baby rub one! They also have the over night plug in that helps relieve stuffy noses. :goodvibes

I have heard a lot about tiger balm but have not tried it yet, will have to pick some up at the store.

Just beware, while yes it cleared up my chest, it did knock me out!

I put it on about 8 last night, slept right through till 7 am this morning!

The chest congestion is all but gone!

This. It REALLY works. :thumbsup2

I do too! They make these teeny little tins (about the size of a quarter) of them that are perfect for slipping into a pocket or purse.

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I had never heard of Tiger Balm. I bought some today for Dh's foot pain. Figure it's worth a try. Just applied it a short time ago, so hope it works. I also inhaled the scent in hopes it helps my sinuses.:goodvibes

Exactly what part of the tiger does this come from?
