It is really fascinating. I'd planned on cancelling my HBO subscription after the GoT finale but I'm holding off until this finishes. Chernobyl is one of the first news/world events I remember so seeing the dramatization of how it played out, even in fictionalized form, had me hooked from the start.

I watched the first 3 episodes last night. I was also going to cancel HBO, but then as I was getting home, they were talking about Chernobyl on the radio. I decided to check it out. Being that I live near nuclear power plants, it's freaking me out quite a bit, but I can't turn it off.

Basically same here. I was born in 1982 so I don't remember Chernobyl as it happened, but we had to drive past the Crystal River, FL nuclear plant all the time when I was a kid, going from our house to Grandma's and my mom would always freak out whenever we did. Windows up to be safe? Windows down to hear the alarms in case they went off? What to do? agh!
I did some googling this morning after watching Episode 3 last night and I found a documentary on Amazon Prime called The Babushkas of Chernobyl - basically a sect of older ladies who returned to their homes in Chernobyl because being away from home was worse than being exposed to radiation to them. I am excited to watch that tonight.

People been saying that since sex in the city cancelled. There is always something that keeps people from not cancelling like they said they were going to. Sure some will cancel but majority that said they were going to cancel will stay. Always something new

The show is very good. I remember when it happened, but coverage was very limited. Of course, we knew the area was dangerous. I had no idea how many people died immediately. What amazed me is that the people living in the area had no idea they were living near or how to handle things when the emergency started. Even those working in the plant were pretty clueless to what the radiation meant. Very eye opening.

I saw a commercial for the new HBO series "His Dark Materials". I read the book when it first came out. It caused a lot of controversy. I'm wondering how many will watch this new series. Hope it turns out to be as interesting as the book.

I would really love to see the Exclusion Zone/Pripyat one of these days. My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I came of age in Detroit just as the "ruin porn"/urban exploration thing was getting popular and developed a fascination with photographing abandoned places that I've never quite outgrown. Chernobyl is the ultimate abandoned place. And there are companies authorized to conduct tours now, though of course there are still strict limits on where they can go and how long they can stay. Still, it would be incredible to see it IRL.

We've been cancelling between GoT seasons for years, and before that The Newsroom was the last HBO original that had me really hooked. Since it is just an add-on to our Prime account, I tend to change up our premium channels often - for the last few years, we've had HBO just during GoT seasons and Starz just during Outlander seasons (though this year I kept it through American Gods as well).

I’ve been watching and really enjoying it! I don’t remember much about it back in the 80’s.

Watching Episode 3 and I'm frustrated with that wife. Repeatedly told not to see her husband, and then told not to touch him, and she ignores and ignores and ignores. Unbelievable!!

Not for work. I was visiting Russia and Ukraine in the fall 2016. And just felt like visiting Chernobyl would be a worthwhile experience. Signed up for a small group tour and spent the day out there. The group seemed to be mainly photography enthusiasts.

Visited the main sights. Old classrooms, swimming pool, ferris wheel, other abandoned buildings, site of the reaction but of course didn't go super close.

Overall very interesting experience.

This is absolutely terrific. Well written and acted. It’s also terrifying, disturbing and just some of the decisions made by people in power completely frustrating

I ended up watching it over the weekend. I found some parts very difficult to watch. I found it to be very good, and very entertaining. I do have some sense of morbid curiosity or something because I would like to see it in person.
