I just booked Chefs de France, hoping for a glimpse of Remy. I'm not familiar with this restaurant, although I heard the french onion soup is to die for. What food/dessert would you recommend?

I plan on eating there in 3 weeks, however, my sister is a CM at Disney and has eaten there 5 times (which really says something) and she highly recommends the duck. Now this is a girl that won't eat mayo and doesn't put dressing on her salad and none of her food can touch (can you say plain jane...not that there is anything wrong with that). So for her to like the duck speaks volumes.

I'm usually a plain jane myself, but did enjoy a lot of the food from Boma, so i would be up for trying something new. Your sister is a CM? Would she know when Remy comes out to visit? I didn't know it was a scheduled thing, and told my DD that we'd be seeing him at the restaurant, and am now panicking because he might not be there...I know he's not there on Sundays. WE have dinner at five...I'm crossing my fingers to get a quick visit from him!

Allegedly he is out until 6 PM so you should get the opportunity to see him. As always things are "subject to change" but he seems to be a huge hit so hopefully they will make him come around more often instead of less.

thanks! I will cross my fingers for a sighting, even a brief one :)

Now what about dessert? I looked at the menu on allears and none of the desserts really stand out to me...

the French onion soup is superb as is the mushroom cheese tart (both on the appetizer menu) For our entrees, we had the braised short ribs/noodles and the rotisserie chicken & grilled vegs...both of these were good, but not outstanding. The desserts -- DH had the apple cinnamon crepe thing, he loved it. I had the chocolate mousse/cake concoction with coconut ice cream. Very, very good.

DH had Kroninbourgs beer, I had the "signature" wine cocktail listed on the menu -- don't remember what was in it, but was sparkling wine & liqueurs I believe. To me, the perfect meal would have been those beverages, those appetizers and those desserts, just skipping the entrees. Don't know if you can order that way, though.:thumbsup2

I've been poking around between here and allears and many people have said if they return, they would just order appetizers and drinks! There are so many that I would love to order, maybe I could order the soup for my "appetizer", then order another appetizer for my dinner...who says you can't just order apps and dessert? (or can you? :confused3)

I was a little dissapointed with Chefs De France.. It could very well be that we just made bad choices, but out of the 4 things we got (lobster bisque, the bleu cheese salad, the salmon and cassoulet) nothing really stood out. Bland is the word that comes to mind.
However, the service was quite good and we got right in for our 7:30 ADR.

I had the filet for dinner and it was one of the best filets I have had in my life.

HANDS DOWN the gratin de macaroni (baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese) YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! It was SO freakin' good!! My friend ordered it and I couldn't keep my fork out of it

I ordered the lasagnes de legumes du soleil a l'huile d'olive au thym (zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, onions and bell peppers baked into thin layers of pasta.) It was good but not exacty what I was expecting and the Macaroni was so good I think it just made mine seem second best

Here's the link to that post if you would like to see more. We had a table at the window which was lots of fun and a great view of the show they have there. Wasn't my favorite restaurant we went to but I did really like it!
Chef's De France

They have the BEST cheese plate there. I had some sort of chicken crepe that I wasn't much impressed with. DH had the onion soup and the salmon. He really liked it. We plan on going back. :goodvibes
I wish i would have know Remy came out there! I didn't see him :sad2:

I usually get and reallly like- Noix de Saint Jacques et gambas sautees Flan d'epinards, sauce a l'oseille - Sauteed scallops and black tiger shirmp served with lemon butter, vegetable and fresh herb sauce, black pearl rice

DW usually gets - Filet de boeuf grille, sauce au poivre noir Gratin Dauphinois et haricots verts - Grilled tenderloin of beef with a black pepper sauce original potato gratin of Savoy and green beans

Thon poelle aux olives et pommes allumettes
Seared tuna (rare) sliced and served with olives and caper sauce, fresh greens and shoestring fries $28.95 (I love it rare but they will cook it longer if you don't)Yum

Canard au miel, haricots vert et pommes de terre douce - Roasted breast of duck and leg confit, french green beans and sweet potato, spicy honey sauce $28.95 I can't even describe how good it is! Words fail me.

Jarret d'agneau, tian de legumes - braised lamb shank, ratatouille vegetables $26.95 (If lamb is your thing, whoa!)

The Macaroni and Cheese is not your standard Kraft Mac & Cheese and if that's what you like, you won't like the Chef's version. It is however what original Macaroni and Cheese from France is and you can't get that out of a box. DS(12) loves it.

Dessert, well I never make it to dessert but you can't go wrong w/ Creme brulee.

It's lunch time and now my mouth is watering!

I've been there and the service was a little slow, but unlike some other Epcot restaurants who bring you the salad, appetizer and food all at the same time, at least you have time to savor your food!

Best Scallops I have ever had anywhere in the world. The Crispy Chocolate cake thing (it is a misnomer) is always a must have for us now.

I also had the mac & cheese. SOOO good! Can't wait to have it again in Aug.

As for desserts. creme brulee was very good. DD4 ate my entire bowl of it. DH &DD7 split the creme puff thing and that was delicious as well.

The beef short ribs were excellent, even my 1 year old enjoyed them! DH had a crepe with chicken and sauted peppers and loved it, and he was nervous about trying a French restuarant, not really his speed. The macaroni and cheese is also outstanding. For desserts we had the Creme Brulee and the apple crepe, both so yummy.

Let's just say were already planning on going back next trip!:goodvibes

We had 4 different entries and none were outstanding. The french onion soup was just average IMO. Chefs De France will not be on our return to list. Remy was great though.
