Chefs de France - Should I prepare to be sad???

Thanks for all the positive feedback! We had never considered this place until a few weeks ago and are now set to eat lunch there next Tuesday. I can't wait to try it!

We ate at Chefs for the first time last week and loved it. DH had the lamb and I had the short ribs. We both agreed that this was the best meal of our trip. The CM serving us was friendly and great. We really enjoyed this meal a lot.

I always enjoy reading reviews of the various restaurants at WDW. But we always try a place at least once before determining if it's bad. And of course, it's hard to judge a restaurant on only one meal. Go and enjoy and decide for yourself! :)

I had not considered Chefs until I read this thread! I looked at the menu and decided to take a chance. We are booked for dinner Jan. 24. :cool1:

At our 1st time at Chef's in Nov '06 the food was off.
I had chicken & despite the fact I like a drier bird, it was wicked dry. I did not order it 'dry', just ordered. The assortment of French pates and charcuteries were pretty bleak. The cheese apps were so-so, looked as if it had sat around a bit.. The waiter gave DSthen16 a little tussle over setting the sauce on the side instead of over his beef dish. I had to intervene, politely.
In general the waiter was not rude & his service was good. We just felt the food was so-so at best. In our humble opinion, one poor meal, though, doesn't make a bad review, so we didn't write it off.

Okay, 3rd week of this past Nov DH & I went back for lunch, & the food & service was wonderful! I had the French menu & DH had the baked mac 'n' cheese. We both enjoyed a glass of wine & espresso.
Our waiter was chatty & very efficient. We felt comfortable & we're very glad we didn't make any rash decisions.
the folks next to us had the pate/chauc. assortment & cheese plates & they looked MUCH better than what we had in '06

We always do try to stack the deck in our favor by choosing meal times that are not popular. We also travel during 'low' visitation times. We may get better service simply because the traffic isn't there.

BTW, we tried Akershus for the 1st time in November & despite some pretty horrible reviews, enjoyed very decent food & excellent service :thumbsup2
I admit I was trepidatious, we girded our loins & prepared for the worst.:rotfl:
I mean the buffet food was very fresh & well supplied. Nice range of offerings. Our waiter was attentive & friendly. Character interaction was super, too!
You just never know!

Jean

We had an EXCELLENT lunch there in April '08 but the worst meal ANYWHERE at ANYTIME inyears (maybe in my life!) for dinner in September '08.

I'd try it again, but not for a special occasion, in case it was the same as in September, I'd hate it to taint a special evening.

I had lunch there last month and it was great! I had a very enjoyable experience, my only complaint was the closeness of other tables around you.

What reviews have you been reading? I've seen many more good reviews of this restaurant than bad ones. That's why I booked it for our next trip. I'm confused.

We went their twice during our 9 day trip last August. The food was great, probably our favorite meals of the trip. Everyone talks about the creme brulee, but I loved the fruit salad with earl grey tea syrup and mango sorbet. :lovestruc It is one of my favorite desserts, fresh and not too heavy.
