Chefs De France or San Angel Inn?

Chefs de France! As far as I am concerned it is the hidden gem of restaurants!

We have eaten at both rest. and liked both for different reasons. That being said I would go to Chef's de France over San Angel Inn.

To PP, MinnieNurse,
what was your complaint with Mama Melrose?

We had really slow service. REALLY REALLY slow service. The food was okay. I liked the flat bread and my dessert. I had the Eggplant Napolean, I have has similar items other places and liked it. This was terrible. DH had the pork tenderloin and it was actually pretty good. We did the Fantasmic package and were suppose to go to the early show and we had a really early ADR that should not have been a problem, our service was seriously so slow that we ended up getting tickets for the later show which we did not stay for. We go once a year and we went here in 2005 so it may have improved.

We are a eat what is on your plate and dont complain type of family. We love almost everywhere we have been in Disney. DS knows if he complains he doesnt eat-I am one of those mom's who refuses to make a special meal for kids because they wont eat what the adults were eating.

Anyway I am rambling. The main reason I did not like it was the horrible service and the food was just okay for me.

You can get Mexican/Italian/Chinese food anywhere, but French food is harder to find. Go with Chefs de France.

Chef's. Much better food. I was disgusted when a few years ago they changed to Tostito's instead of a fresher type chip. Yuck. My Wegman's (store brand) are better than those.

We used to love to go to lunch at SAI. How cool is it to eat lunch at "night"? but I swear the Margarita they served me had not any tequila in it (the DH agreed, he hates tequila and is very sensitive to the taste) and everything tasted warmed over. Coupled with the poor chips we haven't been there in over a year. If we aren't particularly hungry and the weather is right the food at Cantina is much fresher and I think the menu is broader. The margarita's are the same but in SAI they come in those big heavy glasses I think are so cool.

The bacon/onion/creme fraiche flatbread is delicious and we love the hot french bread rolls. My DH loves the French Menu, onion soup, roasted chicken and vanilla creme brulee. Gets it every time.

I have to agree with others who like them both. I love both of them.

For most TS restaurants, including most of World Showcase, I choose lunch. It appears to be essentially the same food, at substantial savings. My only exception, is Rose and Crown, because I love going there during IllumiNations. But getting back to the two restaurants.

The San Angel Inn is so cool. Actually, I think that the Mexican Pavilion is the coolest Pavilion. The food is good, too, if you like Mexican, which I do.

That is where I think that people put down San Angel Inn - they are not big on Mexican food. Let's face it, Mexican food is laid back, casual food. French cuisine is, well classy. I assume that France is probably the birthplace of fine cuisine. So to get a fair viewpoint on the two restaurants, it should be from someone who likes both foods. But then, what do I know about good food, afterall, I think Taco Bell is good.

Chefs is a very nice restaurant. I avoided it for several trips, because I thought it was too stuffy to bring excited children to. Was I wrong. It is laid back, too. It is now a must for our trips. The only think that I every had, however, are the short ribs. They are cooked in a Cabernet sauce. Delicious. When I find a food I like, I only order it. Take the Sci Fi, for example, I only order the Rueben - every trip. So I cannot comment on anything else. The other thing I like about Chefs is their wine. I love wine, but know very little about it. At Chefs, you can try a glass or two. If you like it, just remember to write it down, so you can buy it at home.

Probably not much of a help - since they are both worth trying.

Have fun,
