Chefs de France on the dining plan

We have decided to give Chefs de France a try on our next trip...this is one of only a few places in Epcot we have not eaten, and, honestly, I don't seem to hear much about it either!

We are on the DDP. Anyone eaten there lately while on the DDP? Any tips, suggestions? Any restrictions as to what we can order?

For all of the trips we've taken to Disney we had never been to Les Chefs de France until last year. We ate there in Dec on the 07 DDP. It was excellent! Service was very good, food was fantastic. The French Onion soup was incredible, you could almost eat it with a fork. I highly recommend the Black Tiger Shrimp & Scallop dish, it was beyond delicous DD14 devoured the short ribs, DH & my Dad & Stepmom all enjoyed the filet de beef and DS11 had the kids hamburger which was very good. Desserts were very good as well

We were very pleased with our meal and will definitely go back

My wife and I were there in April using the DDP. The restrictions were the normal things, No app nor alcoholic beverages on the dinning plan. For both of those we paid OOP.

It's one of our favorite places to eat in Epcot. We go there for every trip. I loved the braised short rib on our last trip.

We ate there in July 2008. It was delicious. Kids picked it as our top meal out of 12 nights of meals. We were on the basic dining plan and the only restrictions were the usual- no appetizer or alcholic bev. We all chose the filet. I had it as is on the menu but one daughter substituted the augrautin potatoes with sweet potatoes and one substituted with mashed potatoes. The meat was so tender and cooked just perfect. DESERT!!! OMG! I had the chocolate puff with chocolate sauce- imagine melted hershey's chocolate only better. Sorbet- beautiful and delicious- light and fruity. My oldest daughter chose a desert that wasnt listed on the regular menu- best I remember it was a angle food cake with rhubarb chutney and a fruit drizzle with raspberries and blackberries for garnish. She ate the cake and the fruit but the rhubarb chutney was a no go- but I'm not sure what inspired a picky teenager to go for rhubarb anyway. It may not have been to her liking but it was pretty.

This will definately be on our must do again list. The portions were perfect. Not too small and not overwhelmingly huge either. We were satisfied without feeling miserable.

Service was very efficient. One of the best places that we dined. I had read reviews where people had had slow service but this was not the case with our dinner that night. We were seated, served, and checked out within an hour.

There are no restrictions with the dining plans. Whatever is included in your particular plan is what you can order (appetizer or no appetizer, etc.). We went there a year and a half ago and loved it. The service was impeccable!

oh I'm so excited! I got this last night for our "night out alone" for hubby and I. I'm glad to read such good reviews. I was thrilled it's only one table service from the DDP as we seem to be picking a lot of signature restaurants!

My 16 yo dd is so sweet and is going to watch our 4 and 6 year olds for us while we go out alone one night!

The only menu restriction on the basic dp right now is the "The french Menu" dinner special, and it is excluded because it has an appy.You can still get that meal separate though.

We ate there for lunch last Friday for the first time. It was great! The french onion soup was delicious. They have a nice selection of desserts. We really were glad we gave it a try.

We too are eating the for the first time this trip. I was also unsure but after posting a similar questions as OP I've been reassured. I'm really looking forward to eating there and hope it's one of the ADRs we keep (we always end up cancelling and/or rescheduling a few while there)

Looking at the menu, I can't seem to decide what I want to eat, I really want to shy away from eating ANOTHER slab of good ol' American beef- I'm just such a picky eater that it's hard. I do LOVE gruyere cheese so I'm eye-ing that macaroni and cheese, but you never know.

I DO know though, with that heavenly description of dessert above, I know what I am going to get- Profiterolles au Chocolat, yummy sounding...

From what I'm reading on all the other posts, the food quality is terrible. One person compared it to the Olive Garden, another said WDW's fine restaurants are barely above a chain restaurant in the USA (I guess like TGIF).

Dining is completely a SUBJECTIVE experience.Example i hated San Angel Inn but tons of people here love it.It doesn't make it a bad choice .I will try anything at least two times before i totally bash the place, and even then it is only my personal opinion.Even good places have off days.As long as you don't hear about rodents( Not mickey) running thru the restaurant I would go with what you want to do.

Someone may have compared Tutto Italia with Olive Garden but I can't imagine why they'd compare a French restaurant with OG

As far as posts complaining about quality going down and so on, keep in mind that a lot of us that go to WDW frequently become a little jaded sometimes and when menus change and our favorite dish disappears we may rant. Everything is also a matter of perspective--eating habits at home, crowds, moods--throw in a bad server when you're tired & cranky and all of a sudden it could be the worst restaurant in Disney history

I will say some of the restaurants at WDW are fantastic and some are just good and a few are bad. We have had 5 star meals & service at Hollywood Brown Derby & Yachtsman steakhouse. Princess dinner in Norway was good, but for the price (almost as much at HBD) not even close in food or service. If we hadn't eaten at HBD the night before, Princess dinner would have been really good. The only truely bad meal that we've had at Disney was at H&V dinner buffet (many years ago).

Okay, what did you have for dessert? Your order is the same as what I had last September. I had the profiterolles for dessert. It was wothout a doubt one of the best meals I have had at WDW. I would highly recommend eating there.
