I had booked the CP package for Chefs - Sunday, 12/16. I'd been looking forward to trying it -- but was secretly nervous because of some reviews I'd read. The menu, however, looked really good and I knew that the restaurant would be beautiful, and it was.

Our party was:

DH - (40 something)
Me - (ditto)
DS - (10 - Disney adult) and
DD - (7 - the most adventurous picky eater on the planet)

I've often thought that DD should have been born French. She turns up her nose at many "bourgeois" American foods, but loves olives, mushrooms and mussels. Give this girl expensive cheese and she's in heaven -- but, no chicken nuggets please.

DS is a fairly adventurous eater -- not quite so much as DD -- but often has the "adult" appetite, so he was quite looking forward to being a Disney adult.

DH and I enjoy trying new things...within reason.

So, here we were, on the dining plan faced with a menu in France that looked really good. Here's what we ordered:

DH - appy: lobster bisque; entree: beef tenderloin; desert: apple crepes.
Me - appy: goat cheese salad; entree: beef tenderloin; desert: creme brulee
DS - appy: broccoli soup; entree: beef shortribs; desert: profiteroles
DD- appy: cheese pastry; entree: flounder; desert...didn't order.

Appetizers: Lobster bisque was delicious -- very silky and yummy; goat cheese salad was very good, no complaints there; broccoli soup was not very good -- the broccoli flavor was like overcooked broccoli - very strong. The cheese puff was good and...GONE in a flash.

Entrees: The beef tenderloin was wonderful -- I really enjoyed mine, until I offered to trade with DS who didn't like his entree. DH liked his as well, but thought that he liked the filet at Le Cel (October 2006) better than this one. The potatoes that came with the tenderloin were not to our taste...but the green beans were good. The short ribs were not to my sons liking...it had a wine reduction and it was very strongly flavored. The ribs were fatty, too. This was not a great entree. The polenta was pretty good, though. As for DD's flounder -- DD announced before entrees arrived that she was full. She did take a few bites of the fish and said it was ok. I tried it and concured -- it was not fabulous, but was good.

Everyone liked their deserts -- my creme brulee was yummy! I tasted DH's apple crepes and they were good too. DS liked his profiteroles, as well.

All in all, a wonderful meal. Our server, Amelie, was extremely friendly and my DD loved her. She kept the meal moving, as well.

I'd say we'd likely return here on a future trip.

*Note: I've got some photos of the food. I'll upload them after the Christmas hubub has died down some.

Thanks for the review. I'm glad you liked Chef de France. We ate there on our last night 12/15 and enjoyed it too. I had the short ribs that night and really enjoyed them. There was not much fat on mine.

We really enjoy Chefs these days as well. Glad you did too.

What was the cheese pastry like?

Looking forward to seeing pics, I am thinking about trying this place out on my next trip :thumbsup2

What was the cheese pastry like?

Not that I got even a little bite, but I can describe what it looked like:

It was a flaky rectangular pastry, about 1 1/2 times the length of a deck of cards and about the same width. It was scored down the length of it and I guess the cheese was inside...but it wasn't gooey. Probably a grated hard cheese like parmesan was inside the pastry.

It also had a pretty little green salad on the side. It would have made a nice appy for a grown up.

Thanks. It does sound interesting.

We also really enjoyed Chefs de France although our service was very lacking, which certainly brought down the experience, we loved the food and the kids menu with the Ratatouille chefs hat! DH enjoyed his steak here more than Le Cellier.

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.
