Chef Mickey's?

Hello everyone,

My DM65, DS8, DS4 and DD3 are going on a Disney Cruise in January. We are staying 2 nights at the Nick Hotel before the cruise (DS8 really wants to do the Nick thing.)
Anyway, we are going to have a rental car so we are taking the kids to the Ferry Landing to see the fireworks and I was thinking about dinner at Chef Mickey's. Good plan?
How is the food and atmosphere at Chef Mickey's? What characters are there? I am only planning one dinner at WDW. Any other suggestions?

I think if you are only doing one dinner at Disney with the kids, this is the one to do. The food is just OK, typical buffet, but the atmosphere and character interaction is fantastic. Usually Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale, sometimes Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Max.

You can actually go to the 4th floor of the Contemporary and they have an observation spot for Wishes as well and I believe they still pipe in the music.

Chef Mickey is defintiely a great choice if you're only doing 1 meal and you want characters. If you were only doing 1 meal but wanted the best food, there would be better choices. But for characters, that's a great choice!
