Is Chef Mickey's worth it? Worth paying out of pocket that is.:confused3

We will be on the CS dining plan but would like to throw in a charactar meal and maybe one TS meal. This is out 5th year in a row and never had a charactar or table service meal.:sad2:

I have two boys ages 8 & 6.

What charactar meal and TS meal would you choose if you were paying out of pocket.

ABSOLULETLY :thumbsup2 Love Chef Mic's the best Character meal in Disney in my opinion :cool1:

We were new to Disney last year and did it on the dining plan last year - it was excellent! Decent food (salmon & brisket) and the kids got to spend a little one-on-one time with the Big 5. Its the one meal we are repeating this year.

One tip - if you do it at the beginning of your trip, your kids won;t have to stand (wasting time) in the lines at the Parks to get autographs. We couldn't get in (mid-March) on our 1st choice so we're going on our last night as a WDW farewell!

I think CM would be the perfect choice for your 2 boys. We found the food good and the characters were great. Also, just being in the CR will be cool for them to see the monorail going through the hotel.

We are choosing to do Crystal Palace as our OOP dining meal (on the QSDP too) but I have a 2year old who loves Pooh so that's why.

I would definitely do Chef Mickey breakfast oop. We did it for the first time a couple weeks ago, we were on DDP, but DH and I both agreed that it will always be on our must do list and even if we're not on the DDP next time, we'll still do it. We really enjoyed the characters and the food. DH just loves any place he can get unlimited bacon, lol. I would highly recommend CM!

As far as other TS places, we really liked Chefs de France and 50s PTC. Have a great trip!

If I was paying OOP I would do CM for breakfast. That is the meal we prefer to eat there anyway. By your vacation ticker it looks like you are less than 60 days out, so I wouldn't put off calling. CM is one of the hardest reservations to get. Hope you get lucky, but if not, 'Ohana's character breakfast is one of our favorites.

As far as TS, most of my favorite TS locations have pricey entrees. If I was paying OOP I would choose a signature restaurant.

:)

Well I went ahead and called and made reservations for Chef Mickey's on our last morning ans Boma's earlier in the week. It appears eating those two places alone would cover the cost of upgrading to the next dining plan.

My issues with all of this is that is seems like it takes a lot of time to "go" to these places and eat and then go back to the park. That being said it seems like everyone loves Chef Mickey's so I think we will have to try it at least once.;)

Glad you were able to get a reservation at CM! :)

Character meals do take up quite a bit of time, but while your boys are still young I definitely think you should give it a try. Then you can decide for yourself if it is worth the trade off in time away from touring.

Hope you have a great trip!

We have done the meal plan twice and took full advantage of character meals. The "time to go" was a welcome blessing to me. My kids never wanted to stop, but they needed breaks -- this was a built in break without them realizing it.

Woohoo Chef Mickey's!!! Just remember to keep the camera ready there will be lots a great shots to moments to capture. Hope you like Boma as much as we did as well.

Did you upgrade to the Basic DP? If so you'll need to make a few more reservations to use up those TS credits. Strategically I suggest you let Momma select at least one meal just for her. You know the saying, if momma ain't happy....;) Coral Reef would be another good choice and it is in Epcot, so a bit easier to get too. It features a floor to ceiling full wall aqarium and unlike the other meals you've booked you'll get served, it isn't a buffet. We did that for lunch after a long morning in MK. It would be a nice break during your Epcot day, either for dinner or lunch.

You can walk to MK from Chef Mickey's or hop on the monorail so it won't be hard to get to a park after breakfast. Hopefully you can plan your AK day to coincide with your Boma meal. It is about 5min bus ride from AK to AKL so really easy to do.

Good luck with the rest of your planning. As usual continue to ask away on the boards.
