Chef Mickey's was disappointing

I agree with alot of people here. I also did the Dinner and I found the food to be just okay. It was somewhat of a disappointment:sad2: when you're hungry and ready to chow down . Normally, you find anything tastes good when you are hungry but this meal didn't reach the spot for me. The atmosphere wasn't quite the same as the breakfast IMO but it was okay.

I would go for the breakfast :goodvibes and not the dinner.

It's very sad to hear/read/see how quickly CM is going downhill.

We have not had a meal there since 2007, but over this past New Year's we were in the CR for a ressie at The Wave and walked by CM waiting for our ADR time...

It was *shocking* to see the amount of trash on the floor under and around the tables, and how sloppy and unkempt the buffet area looked.

This is a popular eating place in a "deluxe" hotel ! I mean, I'm a huge fan of The Contemporary and I'm willing to let some things slide, but this was unacceptable.

If I had been with my family eating there for the first time and saw what I did, I would have promptly turned them around and walked out.

they put us at a two person table, which was only separated by a few inches to a large table filled with adults not controlling their kids whatsoever! Their kids and them talked constantly which was annoying to hear others conversations 2 inches away, no room to have your own. their kids were running up and down behind their table, playing. When i asked to be moved the manager or whomever was like well there are going to be kids everywhere, so?? There were a lot of empty tables too, which i was looking at right by us and he was like those are reserved for larger familys, yeah table for four, why should we pay $80 to sit in a cramped space with a LOUD group RIGHT by us? I said well i will take the chance, so i got to speak with my waitress which whom i was coming up to talk to, not this guy. I told her the kids were climbing on my husband and got ketchup on him so she said no problem and moved us to the other side. Did i already post all this, oh well.. it's still bugs me.

Ummmmm, if you don't want excited, rowdy kids, then Chef Mickey's is probably not the best venue for you. People talk at the table, that is what normal people do, carry on coversations.

Just a heads up, you might want to avoid CRT, Akershus and Tusker house breakfast, just a thought.

We were there in June of 09 (Chef Mickeys) and had great food and character interaction.

I dont think anybody wants children running around them misbehaving and spilling food items wherever they are. I have children and it annoys me when I am out and have other people's children climbing all over me. Regardless where they chose to eat, there should still be respect for personal space.

We ate at Chef Mickey's and we were not at all impressed with the food. It was our least favorite meal of our trip. The characters were great but that was about all.

Went there last summer and was disapointed with food quality and atmosphere. There were birds flying in and out of the restruant too.

We ate at Chef Mickey's in late August and I was shocked how much it has changed. We were there with my brother's family (2 young boys) - our first time at CMs in quite a few years as our son is now 20. I remember lots of choices and very good food with characters that weren't in a hurry to get to another table. What we got this trip was VERY limited choices, food that reminded me of my high school cafeteria, tables right on top of each other, and a quick interaction with each character. I still love the napkin waving and my nephews really enjoyed it too.

Now, some of my negative feelings might come from the fact that I had a violent stomach reaction to something I ate there (within 15 minutes of eating). The only thing that usually makes me sick like that is MSG. I know Disney doesn't cook with MSG, but I'm wondering about the soup that was in the chicken pot pie that was about the only thing I liked. I remember commenting to my husband that it was very salty (but the crust was great).

I had breakfast there on the 8th Jan.
Arrived around 9:10am for my 10:10 ADR and just watched the crowds - they never really let up. Quite amazing how many people breakfast late in the day - did expect after 10am to be quieter but no - still piling in after 11am.

Got my pager and was paged around the time of my ADR.

The waitress was very helpful and constantly refilled the orange juice and made sure I was fine.
Food was warm but newer food was put out and I tried everything first time around. Usual pancakes, scrambled eggs, fruit, bacon, home fries, Mickey Waffles etc and it cost $24.99 + tax + tip.

Quite noisy what with tables full of kids (95% Spanish speaking) but still got photos with the characters.

Found the place to be a bit open for my liking. You're easily overlooked by everyone inside and outside, and with the open wall for the monorail, there are loads of sparrows flying about, on the floor, tables etc.

Did 1900 Park Fare the following day and a lot better. Looked posher although wasn't keen on people with electronic pads standing around looking like security guards. Food was much the same although toast, bagels, strawberry soup and an omelette station were there. Better atmosphere overall and cheaper at $20.99 + tax + tip. Service was better at Chef Mickey's to be honest.
Characters did take longer to come around though.

To be honest, if it's just meeting Mickey etc you want, probably best to go to Epcot and meet them all there for free. At least you don't get half of Brazil or Mexico in the background of all your photos!

Maybe the Brazilians and Mexicans don't like having all the Americans in the background of their photos??:confused3 Just sayin'..... They paid to be there, just like everyone else.

:hippie: Peace

I agree!!! When we go out for meals my children are absolutly not allowed to run around or scream and bother other people who are around us. They were taught manners and they are expected to use them, especially in public places.

We have never been there for dinner. Breakfast is fine. Nothing to write home about but we basically go there for the experience. It never fails that less than an hour after we leave my boys are claiming to be hungry. They get too distracted by the characters and singing etc and forget we are there for a meal.

We had a similar experience. Breakfast was fine, but my kids hardly ate anything because they were too preoccupied with the characters. The characters were great they kept coming back to the table and we got tons of great pictures. For the price I wish the food had some more options and was a little better. Also that we weren't hungry a little later
