:sad2:Hi. I ate at chef mickey's on Jan. 2nd and the ice cream was like ice milk. It was unappetizing! I was looking so forward to the desserts too. For the overpriced cost of the meal you'd think they could have some good soft serve instead of quickly melting ice milk, or almost ice water. The vanilla nearly had no white color. :sad1:

I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience. When we were there back in Dec we had a wonderful meal and great desserts.
Neither of us had the ice cream, so I don't know if it was like that then or not. But we sure were surprised, we loved it.

ok, the soft serve wasn't awesome (never been anywhere it was awesome), how was the food? And the characters? Hope it was better than the soft serve

Hmm, I don't remember the ice cream being bad but I remember there wasn't too much of a selection there. It all looked like frozen food to me. I think it was just all kid oriented which is understandable. The characters were fun though but just as we got up to leave, Mickey Mouse came out and my bf's little brother asked to get a picture with him, and he wouldn't do it. He kept making gestures and then he had to motion for the person in charge of him to come over. I think they thought we were just random people who walked up but it was an awkward experience.

We too were very disappointed in our dinner at Chef Mickey's :( Terrible choices and food, noisy atmosphere and ice cream soup  We won't be back!

I detest all ice cream but agree that for what they charge they should strive to offer a great product.

Sorry it was so bad.
:)

We have never been there for dinner. Breakfast is fine. Nothing to write home about but we basically go there for the experience. It never fails that less than an hour after we leave my boys are claiming to be hungry. They get too distracted by the characters and singing etc and forget we are there for a meal.

i even tried the other ice cream machine on the other side and it too was just as bad. They should use the ice cream they sell over in Animal Kingdom by Asia in that cool car/van, now that ice cream is AMAZING!

We went there for dinner in August. To me it was much better than 1900 House but wasn't what I would call good. I didn't have the ice cream but my kids did and they didn't say anything. It could be that they had so many toppings that they couldn't taste it.:lmao:

sorry to hear your bad experience...we didn't like the dinner at CM too. But my son the character interaction. We will give it another chance but we will go for Breakfast and hope for the best...if not at least we made our son happy to eat there again and gave it another chance.

How was the food other then the ice cream? I know the ice cream wasn't the highlight of the meal when I ate there, but some of the hot food, (the ribs inparticular,) were really good.

I had breakfast there on the 8th Jan.
Arrived around 9:10am for my 10:10 ADR and just watched the crowds - they never really let up. Quite amazing how many people breakfast late in the day - did expect after 10am to be quieter but no - still piling in after 11am.

Got my pager and was paged around the time of my ADR.

The waitress was very helpful and constantly refilled the orange juice and made sure I was fine.
Food was warm but newer food was put out and I tried everything first time around. Usual pancakes, scrambled eggs, fruit, bacon, home fries, Mickey Waffles etc and it cost $24.99 + tax + tip.

Quite noisy what with tables full of kids (95% Spanish speaking) but still got photos with the characters.

Found the place to be a bit open for my liking. You're easily overlooked by everyone inside and outside, and with the open wall for the monorail, there are loads of sparrows flying about, on the floor, tables etc.

Did 1900 Park Fare the following day and a lot better. Looked posher although wasn't keen on people with electronic pads standing around looking like security guards. Food was much the same although toast, bagels, strawberry soup and an omelette station were there. Better atmosphere overall and cheaper at $20.99 + tax + tip. Service was better at Chef Mickey's to be honest.
Characters did take longer to come around though.

To be honest, if it's just meeting Mickey etc you want, probably best to go to Epcot and meet them all there for free. At least you don't get half of Brazil or Mexico in the background of all your photos!

the other food was ok. i did like the mashed potatoes. Nothing there though that made me want to fill up on. it would be better if they had more variety and more items.

i too noticed that english was the minority, by far too. for our whole trip this was the case, but in most table service place it was the opposite.

We just ate at Chef Mickey's this past Christmas Day for Dinner. The atmosphere is wonderful for all. Even as an adult it was great to have the characters come and take pictures or to dance with them waving your napkins around.

However, the selection of food could have been better. It was like your typical buffet. For those in the Chicago Suburbs it was like food you would see at Old Country Buffet not a Disney Restaurant.

Oh and the Picture that the took was very nice but expensive. But what isnt these days.

We were there in Aug. & out of all the buffets we have eaten at in WDW, this one was the worst. Not nearly as big of a selection as the other character buffets we have been to. Even the desserts were disappointing. Overall, it was lame. We're not going back next trip for dinner. We will go for breakfast which we've enjoyed in past years.

Sadly, the food at CM has gotten progressively worse over the last couple of years IMO. It used to be one of our favorites, but I will be skipping it from now on. I have only eaten there for breakfast, and it was a must do for each trip. We usually go to WDW four (4) to five (5) times a year. The last time we went to CM was the first week of December, 09. We decided to give it one (1) last try hoping the food had gotten better. Well, it had not. Even the character interaction didn't seem the same, and I am the person in the family who loves character meals. We probably will not go back again. This used to be the #1 eatery for us, but now it is not even on the list.:headache:

Not just your opinion. In 06 it was our hands down favorite. We went back in 08 and could tell a big difference in food quality. DD begged to go back in Nov because Minnie is there, and we did, but it wasn't that great at all. However, we did have EXCELLENT character interaction, but most of the food was lukewarm (and we had 5:15 reservations) and our waitress was just frazzled. I don't know that it will be on our list next time we go to WDW
