Chef Mickey's - Too Old?

We were just in WDW a few weeks ago. We hadn't made any ADRs since we were planning a low-key, go with the flow trip. After arriving, both kids specifically asked that we try to get an ADR for breakfast at CM. Thanks to a well-connected concierge at CSR who felt like doing us a favor, we were able to score an ADR for 8:00AM on a Saturday (we asked on Wednesday)...very lucky! We enjoyed breakfast and have another set of pics with each of the characters! Both have asked that we include CMs in our November trip plans as well. Just an aside....we did have dinner at CMs once and won't be doing that again...just didn't find the food to be a good match for our taste. OTOH, we always enjoy breakfast with CM and friends!

When I started planning for our upcoming trip in June I told my family that this time I wanted to try different restaurants instead of the ones that we normally go to. Well both my boys (12 and 13) INSISTED on going to Chef Mickey's and my DH INSISTED on going to Sci Fi and we ALL INSISTED on going to Crystal Palace. And we also decided to try Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner since we've been to their breakfast 2x already. So basically we're only trying 2 different restaurants this time. (Coral Reef and Cape May Cafe) So much for that idea of going somewhere different. LOL

But anyways, I personally don't think you can ever be too old to enjoy a character meal. If they're interested in the characters, so be it. I'm sure they'll enjoy the food and atmoshpere.

They may LOVE or HATE anything, at any given time. In five years, they'll probably be all in for the character meals again.

Here's what I would do - ask them. Show the kids the descriptions/menus and let them pick a couple of restaurants (or pick between a couple of your choice.) They might surprise you by picking a character meal or a really great sit down. And, you'll cut down on the eye rolling significantly!:rotfl:
I do a lot with my 14 year old niece and 10 year old nephew and they love being in on the decision making.
