We are taking my 5 year old on her first Disney trip. We snagged ADR’s for both Chef Mickeys at 550 and ohana at 820. Which would you keep?

we are already eating at be our guest, CRT, and Hollywood and vine breakfast.

Hard to say…8:20 PM could be late in the evening for someone her age so perhaps Chef Mickey would be better.

I think I'd do Chef Mickey's due to the time and the fun atmosphere for a 5yo. I'd prefer Ohana myself but for kids CM's!

I agree that chef Mickey’s (along with the time) is better for a five year old.

Thanks! We kept the Chef Mickey’s. We watched a YouTube video of the restaurant and she loved it!
Little kids get a big kick out of the place—especially their first time. Even though the characters can’t come up and hug you right now, they do a good job of coming fairly close posing for lots of pics, etc. kids also get a kick out of when they all come and dance through the dining room—they sing a little song about making biscuits. The place is a lot less hectic since it’s been family style.

We ate dinner at both Chef Mickey's and Ohana's during or last Disney trip. The small children in our party enjoyed the character interaction at Chef Mickey's. The buffet at Chef Mickey's also provided a wider variety of choices that appeal to children. I can't speak to what might have changed since covid as our trip was prior to that.

Since Covid chef Mickey’s has been family style for breakfast and dinner. You do have less choices, but it is a bit easier to have the food brought to you when you’re with small children.

Over the years we have found and observed across the property a significant difference when a very young child dined at 5 or 8 pm. Tired children dining at 8pm are far more vocal at 8 then 5. Melt down are more common the later you dine out late with preschool/grade school age.

IMO, neither are great, but given the 2 choices, I would choose Ohana.

Not sure when Chef Mickeys will be in full buffet/character swing again, but right now the entrees are prime rib (very rare), turkey and salmon. Sides are not really kid friendly, but I did see a family sitting nearby and it looked like they had a plate of chicken nuggets and fries...so maybe there are other options when you have kids with you. We were a party of all "Disney Adults" (10+)

There is a kids platter (but anyone can ask for it). It has chicken nuggets, corn dogs, Mac ‘n cheese, broccoli and tater tots.
