Chef Mickey's/Fireworks

Okay, I have reservations at Chef Mickey's for 5:45 p.m. on Thurs., Jan. 30 (tried last year and could never get a reservation!) I noticed, with January's hours now posted, that MK will have it's Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks show at 6:30 that same night.
Any ideas on how to take advantage of this?
*Will we be able to really watch the show from the Contemporary, or should I try (with fingers crossed) for an earlier reservation?
*Would we be done in time to get closer?
*Is it actually a better view from the CTR?

You'll be cutting it close. Is there any way you could change your Chef Mickey's to an earlier time? IMHO you should leave a good 1-1.5 hours for a character meal to give the characters plenty of time to get around to you and to eat as much as humanly possible for the $$ you're spending!

You can't see the fireworks from Chef Mickey's and you can't go to the 15th floor observation deck any more unless you're eating at the Garden Grille. You used to be able to go up there, but they've changed it. There's an observation deck on the fourth floor (at the other end of the concourse from Chef Mickey's, past the shops.) The view isn't as good from there, but you still have a clear shot at the castle and Space Mountain.
