Can anyone tell me about Chef Mickey? The food, the characters, the atmosphere, anything that could be relevant.

Thanks in advance.

We prefer the breakfast over the dinner as far as the food itself. Kids love it here as they do a "napkin song/dance" and really get into it (even our 18 year old son and his then girlfirend loved doing it when we took them for his high school graduation trip in 2004). The characters each visited us TWICE on that trip for pictures with son and his girlfriend. Every other time we've dined there the characters never missed our table. My DH and I haven't been since 2004 because we prefer The Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends, but when we were last at Chef Mickey's the chacters were: Mickey, Minnie, CHip and Dale, Pluto, Goofy and Donald.

We ate dinner there for the first time last August. We arrived for a 5pm seating at 4:45 (they open @ 5). You get your picture taken first as a family and then you're seated. Chef Goofy, Chef Mickey, Chef Donald, Minnie, and Pluto were there. My girls LOVED it. The buffet was ok-I didn't find anything spectacular about it, but I think because we got there right as they opened, we did find the food to all be hot and fresh. I've read numerous negative reports on the board about the food quality being subpar, but it was fine for us. :thumbsup2 We'll probably do it again this August :)

We've only done dinner but have enjoyed it the past 3 years. They always have a great salad bar. I usually eat more from that than the hot stuff. DH and dd seem to enjoy the food and the desserts are good. Character interaction has always been great - they never seem rushed. Lots of interaction and napkin waving.

I describe it as sanctioned chaos; a good thing. :thumbsup2

- 5 Characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck) :woohoo:
- Monorail rolling by overhead :woohoo:
- Brightly lit room :cool2:
- Music playing loudly, kids being loud too!
- Napkin waving, singing and dancing :dance3:
- Fun festive atmosphere :cheer2:

We had breakfast there this summer and loved it. Celebrated our 6yos birthday there. He was so stimulated by all the action getting him to eat was a problem and he loves breakfast food. Chef Mickey's was his second favorite thing at Disney (Characters in general was #1, Goofy's Barnstormer #3). We will definitely return, perhaps for dinner next time.

The atmosphere is cute, the food was less than mediocre. I didn't enjoy it there at all. The characters were also rushed so it made me feel uncomfortable.

We had 8:50 ressies on Jan 30th and fell in love with Chef Mickeys. It was late and the kids were tired. We were certain there was going to be a melt down, but had ordered DD's birthday cake so we had to go. But the waitress, the music, the dancing/napkin waving, and openess allowed them to move around and everyone really enjoyed it. The characters came over about 4 times total. We were not rushed in any way. In fact every character came by when the delivered DD's cake and kissed her head. They kids loved it so much it is a must do for May (middle DD's Bday). The food overall was easily the worst we had during our whole stay, but some dishes were quite good.

We went for breakfast & enjoyed the characters. The monorail overhead was a bonus. I really disliked the food. I make WAY better food at home. The only other character meals we had to compare it to was Crystal Palace & CRT. I felt the characters were great at all three, but the food & service was far superior at CRT & Crystal Palace. The noise & mayhem didn't interest or bother me.

We went for dinner before MVMCP and it was fantastic! The characters came around a lot and stayed for pics (we were a group of 17!) The food was good and we had a fantastic view of the castle when it lit up and they had the fireworks for the regular crowd.

Dinner was terrible but the characters are a lot of fun. There was Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Chip and Dale (Oct 06)

We are trying breakfast for the first time this April

We have been one time and my kids (5 and 3 years) loved it!!! In fact, my son has asked me if we can go EVERYDAY when we go back in October

We went in 2001 & in 2005 & we are going there this August too.

My kids enjoy it. My oldest (who will be 7 at the time of the trip) loves Minnie so it's perfect for her.

I thought the characters were great.

I liked the food but then I don't eat alot of table service to any sit down is great IMO because I don't have to rush (we do it on an off day/arrival day).

I have only ate there for dinner.

we do this for dinner every year on our first night it is our kids fave, they are 3 and 7. it is very loud and we have never felt rushed like some meals. we love the food the mashed potatoes are the best, my girls love the desserts , tons of sweets. great pictures with everyone, and the napkins dance how can you go wrong?:woohoo:

Thanks for the great info. Seems a a rule the food is ok at best? But the kids will get a kick out everything else.

I have put Chef Mickey's as a must do breakfast spot. I hear there buffet is really good for the first meal of the day. I can't wait!

We make it our 1st breakfast every trip. The food is decent breakfast food and it is so much fun!! It gets us in the Disney spirit.

Enjoy!

We visit Chef Mickey every trip. We alternate between breakfast and dinner - both are fun. The food is typical Disney buffet food -but the characters and enviroment make it so enjoyable.
