I called today and got the exact time I wanted. I wanted a late breakfast as we are not doing a park until the evening but the more I think about it the more I am worried about the time. I think I saw a thread about this but I just did a search and it didn't come up but..........I know the hours say until 11:30. I am assuming if we have a reservation they will have to allow us enough time to eat right? I don't want to make the wait staff feel pressured by being there but I do want my children to be able to experience the whole atmosphere (it will be their birthday). Anyone gone to a late breakfast and loved it/disliked it? I have been before and loved it but this will be the first time for all the others in my party.

Sorry to be the barrer of bad news . . . . .

We did dinner at Chef Mickey . . . . . . a real disappointment and the low point of the trip.

Poor food
Loud chaotic atmosphere
Rushed hectic waite staff

$116 for family of four with tip. Hope your experience is much better.

We did do Donald's breakfast at AK with Donald, Mickey, Goofy. $67 and much more enjoyable than chef Mickey at the Contemporary.

Don't worry, they allow plenty of time for folks to eat from the last seating. It's not like they "close" at 11:30, they just don't seat after that time. Showing up early for your ADR might make you feel better, but you may not be seated any earlier even if you do.

We've had the last breakfast seating at CM several times - my MIL is not a morning person. We've never felt rushed or that that there was less food or no characters.

Bearer of good news here. :) We've done Chef Mickey's for breakfast a couple of times and really liked it both times. The character interaction was great and our waitresses were really nice each time. We did go as late as possible and haven't felt rushed. (This probably comes down to your server, though. We've felt very rushed at late Crystal Palace breakfast times sometimes and not at others......) It is an energetic place, but you've been there before and know the atmosphere already, so that's not really an issue.

On the food..... It's just a gut feeling, but I think it's harder to have a breakfast buffet go totally wrong than for other meals. Most people can agree what makes a decent waffle, pastry, and fresh fruit, so if you don't like the sausage they serve or the specialty item turns you off, you can still get a good breakfast.

I really like Chef Mickey's breakfast. The pancakes and bacon are excellent.

It can be *very* chaotic, though, I have to agree with tline35. Sometimes they try to seat us in that large room in the back with all the characters painted on the walls. For some reason, that room is the worst. We tell them that we don't want to sit there and they seat us elsewhere. Sometimes we get seated near the kitchen door and I think it's out of spite sometimes, but we don't care, because it's a lot quieter. The best place to be seated, in my opinion, is kind of behind the buffet. It is a room on the front wall of the resort and is elevated a bit. Small and quiet.

We had always done early character breakfasts before and the last trip we opted for 11:30, the last seating. I will be doing this everytime now! We were not rushed, they continued to bring out fresh food and it was not as crowded. We were also very full for the rest of the day. We did give the kids a piece of fruit in the morning to tide them over. Enjoy!

Last May we had a 11:30 seeting and had a wonderful time. The restaurant has less busy. We had plenty of interaction with the characters. The buffet line was always full of food.

:thumbsup2 Thanks! I guess having worked in retail I remember the feeling of the person who walked in at the last minute and took their time perusing the store. I don't want to make the staff feel like that but they wouldn't have a seating at this time if they didn't expect one right?

I have also scheduled the Donald's breakfast, actually that is the morning before CM. I am looking forward to the loud chaotic atmosphere at CM since that is our only 'activity' of the day (except MNSSHP) and it is my children's birthday. I am on the dining plan so the cost isn't even in my mind but great tips for those who might be reading this who are paying out of pocket and looking for something different than CM provides.

I agree it is hard to go wrong with the breakfast foods (especially since my duo will probably have cold cereal ;)) .

I think the last time I was there I was in that large room in the back, I was actually hoping for that this year, guess we all have different preferences, I'll take your table gladly ;) .

Thanks for all your comments, I am happily going to keep the reservation and enjoy the meal with my birthday children. Think I would be silly if I ordered a cake for dessert? I mean by the time we are done it will be lunch time right? I guess I should go looking for the thread that had all the bakery numbers! :thumbsup2

We love late breakfast Char meals. Everyone who was rushing to get to the parks are gone. I think what they might mean is last seating is 11:30.

Last year we had an 1120 seating at Chef Mickey's and loved it. I was worried about feeling rushed or having old and tired food left. But it was not like that at all. The food was hot and fresh. Tastey too. And our server told us to take our time and enojy ourselves. We had lots of character interaction, almost had the characters all to ourselves. After we finished eating there were only two other families in the place and all the characters to spend with us. We were very pleased with having that late seating. We enjoyed it so much we already have our ADR for 1120 this year.
