Cheese Ball Yak Attack: 2 kids, 2 dogs, 1200 miles - The Sequel

OK... if the dogs had the pillows, what did the kids have? :confused3 :lmao:
They each still had their own pillows (and blankets and toys and games and books and DVDs. I'm surprised we were able them back there.)

Looking forward to your December trip!
Me too!

One of my favorite movies!
And its a trilogy. Coincidence? Perhaps....

Barry- Great report! I'm so glad Bambi got to interject a tad and let us know the 'true' story!!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: It was nice meeting you and your fam! Hopefully we will be in Florida in December too but we are still waiting for our dates from MAW.
Thanks for reading along!
That would be fantastic if you guys could make it in December. Remember - we're there from Dec 5-10. :thumbsup2

I think your inclusion of the parting shot from M*A*S*H is very fitting - at least for me, since a) I watched that finale in primetime back in February 1983 when you were, what 3 or 5 or something like that, AND b) I just watched it again yesterday afternoon after wrapping up another run through of all 11 seasons of the show. Your timing is impeccable my friend!

So you have done a rare thing by having a sequel that's even better than the original... I sure hope the next installment of your trilogy surpasses this one - but I have confidence it will! :thumbsup2 It's been fun. pirate:
I would have been four in February of '83, I doubt I watched it "live", and if I did, I certainly don't remember it. I have caught it in reruns - it was certainly a moving episode.

Thanks for the kind words and reading along. I've already got a few ideas for #3 in my head. Maybe I'll have a "director's commentary" sub-thread where I tell you what I was thinking with every update.

Definitely true. And I'm suffering through my first day back at work today, too. Maybe I should stop reading now, before I get too depressed.

See? I should have stopped! This is brutal.
Sorry. At least there weren't any "Old Yeller" moments.

Yeah, that's definitely not the story you want people relating about how you passed away.
I'm pretty sure my passing will involve a spectacular explosion, 500 gallons of butter pecan ice cream and a goat. I'm just not sure how they'll all tie in together yet. :confused3

I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! Love your sense of humor. I also thoroughly enjoyed attempting to hij--uh, watching stopher attempt to hijack your report. pirate:

It's over? Already? :sad1: You guys will just have to take more vacations. A lot more. How else will we be entertained? :confused3

Great job on the report, Barry. You have a beautiful family, and it looks like you have a lot of fun. And you have the patience of a saint for putting up with the rest of us doofuses. Looking forward to December! :thumbsup2

I'm glad I was able to entertain everyone and provide an outlet for your shenanigans.
I'd be happy to write these TRs professionally if I everyone would chip in a little money to send me to WDW every week or so.

It is always sad at the end of the trip. Even more so when you have that much driving ahead of you.

I don't blame you for not stopping because I wouldn't have got out if I saw that sign.

Love the pic of the dog all curled up.
Thanks for coming along. Allie curls up like that everywhere she sleeps. :sad2:

Do you know what this is? Finger pointing. Laying blame. Attempting to weazle out of some individual responsibility. But honestly, what this really is... is akin to something I once heard in the deepest, darkest jungles of Africa (okay, really I've heard it more than once, but saying I heard it 10,000 times might be a bit extreme too) - anyway - I once heard in that jungle that the Nile is the longest river in Africa, and if you don't believe me, you're just in... denial. So Mark, there you have it. Denial baby. Go way, way, way back to the very first page, and tell us all who it was that posted first in the sequence... Oblvious or stopher? Hmmm. Go ahead, check... you'll see that it was none other than the Captain himself! And with that, the Captain led the charge into the wilds of hija... commenting, yeah that's it, commenting on this entertaining narrative. And with that true leadership, has emboldened his rowdy band of conspirators to have a bit of fun throughout these reports. Arrgh.... pirate:
I think we'll have to lay partial blame on Carl. He beat Mark to the first reply. No telling how distraught Mark was and what that rage pushed him to do.:rotfl2:

I commend you for saying you were not brave but you failed to mention that your wonderful wife (that would be me) who is deathly afraid of snakes had to take your son to the bathroom because you refused to get out of the car.
We've been over this. (On Facebook, ironically.) But I'll reiterate my defense here.
1. You had to take Evan 30 feet, along sidewalks, into the building. The dogs need to "go" out in the grass, where the snakes live (and hunt!)
2. If you were to be bitten by a snake, I would most certainly run to you and suck the poison out of the would. Would you do the same for me? Hmmm....:confused3

Do you know what this is? Finger pointing. Laying blame. Attempting to weazle out of some individual responsibility.

Well...yeah.
"The Captain always goes down with the ship" doesn't apply to pirates, you know.pirate:

Good point, Mark.
Stopher - have you never seen Pirates of the Caribbean? Mark did exactly what our beloved Captain Jack would do.
Except he was more than likely sober when he did it.
Maybe.

Multiple times Barry, multiple times. And of course you're right, you're always right (I'll say it, not sure if Bambi will though...). I just don't like being called out for my own mutiny-laden activities without taking someone else down with me. pirate: So - yeah, it was all Carl's fault. :cool2:

I'm glad I was able to entertain everyone and provide an outlet for your shenanigans. I'd be happy to write these TRs professionally if I everyone would chip in a little money to send me to WDW every week or so.

Sorry but I have already incorporated a foundation to send me to Disney for the express purpose of writing TR's. Haven't gotten any takers though. Speaking of raising money, we are almost up to $700 on our GKTW fundraiser.

Great TR and I am also sorry it is over. Glad there were no cheese ball explosions on way back. "Snakes. Why does it always have to be snakes?"

Can't believe the trip's over already! I can't imagine how hard it would be to leave with Madison crying...and knowing that you had over 20 hours of driving in front of you! I'm surprised you weren't all crying!

Looking forward to hearing about your December trip. Looks like we'll be there right after you...we're planning to go the weekend of the 12th.

Thanks for another great trip report!

First, this is the first that I am hearing of your defense of avoiding getting out of the car because you did not want the dogs to "go" in to the grass. Please. They could have "gone" on the sidewalk if they really had too. The dogs never venture that far in to the grass.

Second, You would have let me die. You would not have sucked any poison out. The sleeping security guard would have saved me before you. You were not getting out of the car for any reason.

Third, after the amount of lies you have told I have decided I would in fact not suck any poison out but I would run, grab my son (or daughter if it were the case) run back to the car and lock the door then call 911. Please note: before the lies I would have saved you.

So that's the way this trip ended. But as I said before, this series is a trilogy. It will be continued in December 2010, when we return to Disney World for a week in a 2 bedroom villa at Animal Kingdom with an old friend and her son. Stay tuned, you're not going to want to miss this!

What makes it a trilogy? We are now looking at flying so is it really a trilogy? :confused3 Will this be the last of your TR? :confused3 I know that I am currently planning more WDW trips than the one in December and the cruise. :cool1:

Barry, thanks again for a very entertaining report. It's been fun to live vicariously through you for this.

Bambi, thanks for putting up with Barry. With the Brewers losing today (and looking rather horrible doing so) Barry will need to be consoled throughout the summer.

As for a trilogy, I'll be optimistic and say "Live long and prosper." Hopefully that will allow us to get 6 or 7 chapters out of you guys! :rotfl2:

Barry, All I can say is Nice Job with the report! It's been a great read and I enjoyed following along with you and your family.

Bambi, Thanks for your inputs as well... :lmao::lmao::lmao: The background story on Barry's World has been great!

Uh...yeah...sober...:rolleyes1

I forgot to mention, Barry, that you are a Trip Reporter...und genius!

Wow! This is getting interesting. popcorn::

See, I'm not convinced Barry would suck the poison out. I think he covets your purple Blackberry.

But then only the even-numbered ones would be good.

If I recall correctly, the cheese ball container sat unopened the entire way home.
Thanks for reading along. If you don't get any benefactors in your foundation in a month or so, let me know. Maybe we can team up and offer a double-whammy TR writing team. People will surly throw money at us then!

I know, after our two week trip last October, everything seems so short. Madison was pretty down for a while, but she did eventually perk up.

Going on the sidewalk? How barbaric!

Trilogy just sounds cooler. That way when I come out with a surprise fourth installment, everyone will be thrilled.

I'm glad you liked the TR.
But you have made an incorrect assumption - I'm not a Brewers fan. I was a casual fan during high school, but in college I found myself with a lot of free time in the afternoons. What are your TV options in the afternoons? Oprah or the Cubs on WGN. Watching them over and over, I just became a fan. But don't worry - Bambi is a White Sox fan, so we still can't agree on anything.

Barry, All I can say is Nice Job with the report! It's been a great read and I enjoyed following along with you and your family.

Thank you. It certainly has been a treat having to defend myself from someone with "insider knowledge" in my on TR. :sad2: :rotfl:

Uh...yeah...sober...:rolleyes1

I forgot to mention, Barry, that you are a Trip Reporter...und genius!
Oh oh. Mark, Bambi's going to be mad at you. You just inflated my ego a little bit more. Now I'll be impossible to live with for a week! :cool1:

See, I'm not convinced Barry would suck the poison out. I think he covets your purple Blackberry.
Madison already called dibs on it. :sad1:

Update on Trip Report #3:
Like all franchises, this planned trilogy needed to find a way to stay fresh and inject new life into itself. With that in mind, we booked a flight for our December trip. (Well, that and we found a special where the 4 of us can fly round trip for $544). So, how will "2 kids, 2 dogs, 1200 miles" survive without the dogs and the minivan? You'll find out in December. ;)

I'm pretty sure my passing will involve a spectacular explosion, 500 gallons of butter pecan ice cream and a goat. I'm just not sure how they'll all tie in together yet. :confused3

I had an uncle that went the same way.:sad1:

Okay, I want to know about this deal you found! If it's available to anyone, I will drive to wherever I have to go for it in December--that's only $136/each round-trip! That's awesome!

MidwestAirlines.com. Our flight is out of Milwaukee, nonstop to Orlando.
Outbound: Sat Dec 4 at 4:00pm
Return: Sat Dec 11 8:00pm

Prices for our flights were listed at $85 each way (before taxes, etc) They are running a promotion called MasterCard Mondays. You have to purchase your tickets "using your MasterCard on Select Mondays until 5/17", but you then get $50 off per person. (Promo code is MCMO)

And isn't it just my luck - 16 hours as we purchase our tickets, they announce that the Midwest brand is being dropped. The company that owns Midwest also owns Frontier. They announced today at noon that the combined airline will be known as Frontier Airlines.

I forgot to mention, Barry, that you are a Trip Reporter...und genius!

I believe I may have to make a new law on these boards. No compliments of this nature unless first approved by me. For the next week no matter what I say to him he will respond with und genius :scared1:

See, I'm not convinced Barry would suck the poison out. I think he covets your purple Blackberry.

I know...:rotfl:he told me we could not have the same background because he could not tell the phones apart. :rotfl2:

Giving multiple toys on the way home and never ending snacks helps with mood changes.

We don't agree because Barry is wrong on the teams that he chooses.

Thank you. It certainly has been a treat having to defend myself from someone with "insider knowledge" in my on TR. :sad2: :rotfl:

By insider knowledge do you mean the phone calls to remind yourself of what occured.

Oh oh. Mark, Bambi's going to be mad at you. You just inflated my ego a little bit more. Now I'll be impossible to live with for a week! :cool1:

I can forgive one time.

Ya know I was thinking that Bambi and Erika would get along great until I read this last sentence. Wisconsin can keep her. :lmao:
