Grimley - remind me of the dates you are going to WDW in October??

Good Morning and Happy Monday (I think). :scared:

Susan it sounds like you had a great weekend with your friends. I've always wanted to go whale watching. What kind of whales are off the coast of California?

Michelle it's been awhile since I've seen you around. I can't believe you only have thirty seven days left to go. Take it easy Mommy.

Hi FAB  New computer :thumbsup2 is a good thing. Our old house got struck by lightening once. It was the weirdest thing. Half of the items that were plugged in sort of burnt up but not everything.

Hey Fabs!

Yes, the computer guys sound right. As an IT guy and former network administrator for a small college, I can confirm that modems, ethernet cards/ports, and routers are much more susceptible to power surges than most other parts of a computer. The reason is that lightning, in this case, is using the "back door" of telephone and network cabling to reach out and fry such equipment. Phone and network cabling are much less often properly ground than regular power lines. I learned this lesson the really, really hard way, when at that college during an electrical storm in 2000, we lost over $25,000 worth of router, switch and ethernet equipment. I had entire network closets with 3 or 4 Cisco switches in them, and every single one of them would be fried. It was a horrible 48 hours or so until it was all replaced. In this case, not a single switch or computer was hit through the power cords; it all occurred through network cabling, and happened all throughout a campus of about 4 buildings. Ugghh.

I'm glad you got a new pc out of it, though!

You asked for my trip dates. We check in to Wilderness Lodge on 10/6 (Saturday) and check out on 10/14 (Sunday). Woo hoo !!!

Good morning! Glad to see that Fab and DMM stopped by. Stick around! It's another Monday. yippee.

Tricia, the majority of whales that we see off our coast are the California Grey Whales. There are humpback occasionally though. I wasn't close enough to ID these whales but I'm guessing they were greys heading down to Mexico for the winter. It was pretty cool to see them right off of the beach.

Hey everyone. Home from work and ready to go to bed. Have to be back at 8am.

Fab, great to see you!

Michelle, bet you can't wait til delivery day :woohoo: .

Grim, wish I were staying at WL! I could really use another vacation right now.

Tricia, :cheer2: for the team!

Susan, I'd love to visit Cal and go whale watching. That would be awesome!

Good Morning! :yay:

I walked into a grumpy office today. I'm not sure why everyone is in such a bad mood. :guilty: I hate that. I come in all chipper and am met with moans and groans. Oh well.

I wanted to tell you about my neice. She's 3 and her dad teases her saying "I'm going to kick your butt!" (I know it's not entirely appropriate but I don't want to judge.) Anyway, Alyssa told her dad: "You can't kick my butt. . . It's closed!" I thought that was hilarious. :lmao:

Hey everyone!

Fabs has me worried. She asks for my trip dates. I respond with them. Then Fabs says nothing. Is Fabs down at WL right now, laying some kind of trap? :scared1:

The weather seems to have finally turned a corner here. First of all, we had about an 18-hour period of steady rain yesterday and this morning. For an area that's about 15 inches behind in rainfall for the year, that was welcome. Secondly, the temps are in the high 70's today with a northerly breeze. It feels sooooooooo good.

Third of all, HOW ABOUT MY BUNGLES last night! We beat the Baltimore Ravens in a defensive duel! :woohoo: So much for the way the Bengals were supposed to be dominated by the Ravens and Steelers this year. We'll see who sits atop the AFC North come January.

Hey Grim. Yes, I'm sure Fab is hatching a nefarious plot against you. ;) Congrats on your Bengals. I am not much of a football fan, not really having a team to root for but I'm all for other people being happy. :thumbsup2 My dad will watch a game if he can't stand the team just to root agains them. This is something I never understood. :confused3

We were talking about Happy Days some time back. Here's something funny:

I was watching Lady in the Water, or whatever that movie is by that Shamalamadingdong director and has Bryce Dallas Howard (Ron Howard's daughter) in it. I didn't watch much of the movie, as it bored me to tears, but there seemed to be one scene where she was in a prettyish, old-fashioned sort of dress, and her hair was combed straight down.

Watching that scene, I laughed out loud a little, because she looked eerily similar to how Ron Howard looked when he and Potsie wore dresses and wigs for some reason to that dance and Fonzie danced with them, not knowing who they were, or that they were male.

Of course, Ron Howard did this in a later episode, this time with Fonzie, but his face had matured a little and didn't look quite so much like Bryce Dallas Howard.

:lmao: Well, if I ever get around to watching that movie, I'll surely think of that. I remember that episode really well. I remember Fonzie blowing in Richie's ear and Richie was trying to tell him who he was. I think they were trying to join some gang or fraternity.

I woke to some rumblings in the sky this morning. It looks like it's going to be a rainy day today. I think we are getting some type of "cool" front. Instead of being in the high 90's we will be in the high 80's. Hey, I'll take whatever we can get.

As of noon today, we have bright blue skies and temps in the upper 60's. High today will be about 75. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Oh, and it's Day 2 of the fact that the Bengals still beat the Ravens on Monday night.

Still haven't heard from Fabs. Hmm. Must be one of those mysterious "thunderstorms" again. ;)

Good morning. It's supposed to be in the mid 70's here today so I'm happy about that.

Yesterday my mom fell at work (after being hit by a preschooler on a tricycle) and fractured her knee cap. :guilty: We are waiting on an appointment with the Orthopedic surgeon to decide what to do. Either way, they are talking about 6-8 weeks of recovery.

Ouch, that has to really be painful for your Mom, Susan. I'm sorry, and wish her a speedy recovery from me, too.

Those kids on trikes can be hell on wheels. :scared1: I keep having to tell my 4 YO to slow down and stay out of the street on her trike.

Hi everyone thanks for the good wishes!! Our dates have been cut down even more!! We are looking between October 3-10th to have the baby!! YIKES!!! :scared1: My blood pressure is running a bit high, so they want to go early! Baby looks great, i can't wait to meet him!!

but I must admit i am EXHAUSTED after walking around for like 10 minutes :sad2:

Hope you all are doing great!!!

Thanks for the well wishes for my mom. She's only in pain when she moves so as long as she sits still she's good. I'm on alert today to see if I have to take her to the Dr. My dad has appointments today too so I have to be ready to leave at a moments notice. I'm secretly hoping for a 3 o'clock appointment so that I don't have to come back to work. :rolleyes1

Wow! You are getting so close! I hope you are able to take care of yourself and get lots of rest!

Susan, here's to hoping you don't have to go back to work ;) and I hope your mom gets better

I have been known to nap when my kids are napping lately! I'm thinking about going to lie down in a bit! haah!

Wow Michelle. Not long at all til you meet the little one then. Babies are great. I love the way they smell (usually). All's good til the stinky poo comes in  .

We're just enjoying the weather here today. It's 74 with a breeze. :cloud9:
