Hi,

We will be staying at Old Key West next month and on our last day our flight does not depart until 8:00pm...Does anyone know if you can request late check out at the any of the resorts? If you can, what are the fees?

Thanks,

no late checkouts allowed at any DVC resorts (at least for point reservations). you can still use the facilities and maybe use the pool showers if needed, but if you really need to stay in the room, then use your points to book another night's stay.

"self extenders" are kind of a touchy subject here...just so's you are aware:

that's not good, gotta figure out what we will do...definitely dont want to just spend a whole day at Downtown Disney and we dont want to go to a theme park because then we will smell on the airplane, gross...back to the drawing board...

I would never do that but I would pay a little extra to stay in our room until at least 4:00pm, if it was possible...

All you can do is book an extra day or move to a less expensive room.

Another option (if you don't want to "stink" on the plane), is to go back to OKW and use the showers at any of the pools to freshen up before leaving for the airport. We usually have a late flight on our day out too, but we aren't usually there during the hot "stinky" months.

This is what we do when we have a late flight. On our last day we each put shampoo, deodorant and a change of clothes into a small bag and leave it with Bell Services or stick it in a locker at the resort. We might go to a park for a 1/2 day or rent a boat or hang out at the pool. Then we retrieve our small bag and head for the showers at the resort to shower and change before heading to the airport. Just be sure to allow plenty of time because there are often other families doing this as well and there are not that many shower stalls. I've had to wait once or twice and was glad I hadn't waited until the very last minute to head for the shower!

We had a late flight out last December. It was me and my DD. We had to catch ME at 2:55 pm so figured we would get up, relax and stay in the room until check out. We were at BLT and figured we could kill time at MK until it was time.

Well, we went to the park, ate lunch, rode every ride we wanted to ride and headed back to the CR and it was only 2:00. I realized then that I should have booked a room for that night. We ended up catching an earlier bus to the airport and hung around there (and of course, our plane got delayed for 3 hours!!!), but from now on, when we fly out late, I will spend the extra points to have a room for that night. There is nothing like being able to relax in your room before taking off for the airport.

We always leave on late flights (7pm or later) and for us it isn't a problem. As others have said if we were particularly active that day and would like a shower we keep the essentials in a small bag and clean up around 45 minutes before ME is set to pick us up. We spend the day at the park, by the pool, shopping at DTD, whatever we feel like doing. If we're tired we find a spot by the pool or by the couches in the lobby to relax on until it's time to leave. But we try to get the most out of it and never really miss having our room.
