Checking into another DVC on site?

Can anyone share their experience with checking out and then checking into a new DVC? We are staying the first week at OKW and I am contemplating a 2nd week at SSR, but not if it's a huge pain...will they pick up my luggage and then deliver it to SSR? I will be with my Mom and 2 kids, and my Mom has back problems (and lots and lots of luggage...) so I can't manage a big hassle. TIA!

We actually just did this during President's week. This may seem crazy, but we changed our DVC resort or room daily and it was quite easy. You just call the luggage place on the phone and tell them you are switching DVC resorts and you need them to transfer your luggage. They usually ship them over around 1:30 daily. Once you have your room, call the luggage number again and they will bring everything right up. We started at Boardwalk with a studio, switched the next day to a one bedroom at Boardwalk, switched over to OKW 2 nights at a studio, switched to a one bedroom at OKW and then spent our final night in a one bedroom at Boardwalk. In case you are wondering, it was a very last minute trip and we had to piece it together. It actually worked out okay except for the meal plan. We had a different card everytime we checked in and we needed to keep track of the meals, snacks etc we were using since they expire midnight the following day from when you check in. That was confusing, but otherwise, I was very pleased with the luggage service with all of those switches - go for it!!

Bell Services will graciously go to your room, tag your bags, and give you a receipt. They will be moved to your new hotel and you should have bags late afternoon/early evening. I noticed we had to call for the bags at the new hotel....cynically thinking it was for a tip, which is probably why they do it, but they earned it, so no big deal!

We changed rooms 3 times in a week, VB followed by BW garden view and then BW BWV. Never, ever again. We didn't like being without a room....on or after 4:00 check-in is really a problem for folks like us who enjoy vegging out around 2:00 PM. If you are an on the go 24/7 family I'd say go for it. Either way you're at the happiest place on Earth!!!

I was told they have to wait until you call because they can't deliver bags to an empty room....not sure if that's true...but that is what we were told! ;)

Moving is very easy!! We have done it multiple times and have never had a problem! :thumbsup2 Especially since it sounds like you will just move one time - that will be a breeze!

Thanks everyone! I think we may try it! :) Generally we hate moving but it's usually been from off-site to on-site or something, never from 2 on-site resorts.

I agree with all of the Mouseketeers above, but keep in mind that when you call Bell Services, you are put on the list on a first call, first serve basis.

DiznyDi and I have moved a couple of times and it is as stated above, but I was surprised the first time when it took an hour and a half before Bell Service was able to come. Certainly not their fault, it was mine in thinking that they would just be right over when I called.

Call early and schedule a pickup time, or at least ask when calling for Bell Services the approximate wait time so you can plan accordingly.

Relax, it will be a great adventure - Disney always is!

Just remember that you will be "homeless" from check out time until the room is ready at the new resort, which could be from 11-4. Even though you can check into the new resort and get your cards, chances are the room won't be ready until 4. So, be sure to plan your day accordingly.

We are doing a split reservation at the same DVC resort next month. This has been very helpful to me. Thank you everyone!

Bell services done this way, do you tip when they pick up, when they deliver, or both?

Also, while you are homeless, can you still use the pool area? I guess we could put our suits in a bag or leave them in our car that day if so.

I tip both ends because they are both handling the bags.

And yes you can use any pool as DVC members can pool hop. (some restrictions apply! ;) )

:thumbsup2 both ends makes sense to me. Just wanted to check.

I am going during a block out pool hopping time. But since i am checking in and out of the same resort, just waiting for my room... I should be ok to pool at that resort....

If we need to take a midday break due to the heat and my 1 y.o. can we check into the resort and hang in the pool area? We've always taken breaks around 1:30 when it's really hot and it scares me to think we'll have no place to take a break at! We're doing 1 night at AKV in Kadani and 2 nights at Jambo.

last week we moved from a 1 bdrm to a studio @ SSR no problem, we called the night before to BS made the arrangements, .In the mornin' they arrived @9AM we then checked out of our first room gathered our card for the 2nd and eventually a CM called to say our room was ready .It was quite easy and non -stressing

How early can you check out? We're only doing 2 park days and would like to make rope-drop.

Thanks everyone! We have our first week booked at OKW from a Sat to Sat, and my Mom flies in for the second week the Friday before we check in, so we won't be homeless at all and can just have our luggage moved from OKW right to the room at BCV. Hooray! I have always wanted to stay 2 weeks since it takes me about 5 days to unwind.

I'm so happy that I came across this post - thank you! We are also switching resorts this July from AKV's to OKW and I never even thought about Bell Services moving our luggage for us. I guess because whenever we have switched it's usually between on-site and off-site properties. Thank you so much for the helpful tips. It sounds so much easier just to have them do it (and alot less work :thumbsup2 ). Does anyone know if Bell Services will move our OL, too? This will be our first time using an OL and I was curious as to how that worked. TIA :)

just remember that when you let Bell Services move your luggage there is nothing in the luggage you will need until late afternoon, early evening.

You will not have access to it, until you get your new room and they deliver it which will be after 3pm even if your new room is ready. Be sure to keep your luggage tags when they come to pick it up and be sure to check to make sure all pieces arrived when they deliver it to your new room. Sometimes one piece can wonder off and you need to make the bellman aware if that is the case, while he is still there.

As Dillon stated depending on when you call, there can be a lengthy wait for them to come pick it up and also to deliver it.
