my husband and I have 2 reservations for 14 people. I was wondering if I could just go up to the counter with another adult and we get bags checked ourselves, or does each passenger that has a bag need to be at the counter as well? I'm trying to park all of our crowd out of the way, while I get bags checked. will just my id work for all the bags? thanks...

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe each person checking a bag has to check in the bag themselves. SWA allows 2 bags checked for free, right? If so, you could potentially list 2 bags each under 7 people and only have 7 people check in bags vs. 14, but I don't think 2 people could check in 14 bags that aren't registered to them. I've never flown SWA, but on other airlines I've flown, I've had to show an ID when checking a bag.

Yup. Each person has to be there, ID in hand, in order to get their boarding pass. I suppose, that if you had 7 people that wanted to check two bags each, then the other 7 people could just print their boarding passes at home and head directly to security.
But, if people are bringing 2 bags each? Won't work.
