I read online that Verizon just lowered their pricing, so I went on my account to see how much we will be saving. I was previously on the 1G of data for $50. It now costs $40. But they didn't put me on that plan - they kept me at the $50 and raised my data to 2G. Pretty shady if you ask me - so check your plans carefully!

You're upset because they doubled your data and left you at the same price?

Sounds like he didn't want/need double the data, but wanted the same data at the lower price. I have been with Verizon for years because they have the best coverage hands down around here. However, the last couple of times I have done business with them, they have added things without my knowledge. Since they email receipts now, you don't see until later and I believe they hope you won't bother coming back. But I always do. Twice they added insurance to a new phone when I said I didn't want it. When I call the CS number, they always correct it, but it is a hassle.

Thank you so much for posting this - they did it to me, too! DS and I don't come close to using 1GB per month. We definitely don't need 2G!

Did you call them to have your plan changed back to 1G? I just tried to change it online but my only options are to make the change effective today or the beginning of my next cycle. I want it effective retroactively to the start of THIS cycle since I didn't request the increase in data. I'm only 4 days into my billing cycle so the monetary difference isn't much at all but it's the point of the matter.

I still get a paper statement from them. It's still an option. Despite the paper usage, which I hate, I do this with every bill to better monitor activity.

I absolutely am. Why would I care if they gave me more of something I would never use??? I didn't need more data, if I did I would have been at that plan to begin with.

I just did it online since it was the beginning of my month anyhow.

Thank you for posting this. I checked my Verizon bill and they did the same thing to me. I would not have specifically looked at that portion of my bill if I hadn't seen this thread.

I will check my bill when I get home. We just have a data plan for the wireless router in our RV. I don't need more data because we aren't there every day but I'd love a discount. Thanks for posting!

I had same issue and was PO"d I'm paying enough I don't want to pay 10.00 extra a month for insurance I didn't want or agree to.

I posted on this elsewhere, they don't cut prices, they just add minutes and texts and data and things I don't need.

I don't have data so won't impact me. I just want to go back to my $25 a month cell phone bill, the one where I paid 25 cents a minute for the 10 minutes of calls and and cents each for the 10 texts I spend a month.

Thanks OP! I checked my bill and it was the same. I changed it back down to the 1G and saved $10 month! I never even come close to using 1G, so I don't need 2G. Most of the time I am somewhere with Wi-Fi available, so no significant data use.

They sent me an email about it this morning and we went from 2gb to 1gb because we rarely use data. And it saved us a bundle :thumbsup2

We use 8 GB a month. Did they change that too? I would love to lower my bill because its like a flipping car note!

I just checked mine and don't even see an option for 1GB? We have 2GB on my husband's line for $30 but the only lower option is 75MB. He uses ~1GB/month it seems.

I got an e-mail yesterday as well saying that Verizon had increased my data plan to 2G. I agree that if I had wanted 2G, I would have gotten it. I need to call to see if they will decrease our data back to 1G and lower our payment.

It irritates me, too, that they just increased the data rather than lower the bill.

Are you getting these discounts in contract? We just switched to Verizon in January, so are we stuck because we are in a brand new contract? When did they make the change?
