Repeating a topic that pops up here periodically: Check your point balances!
Today I found a block of points in holding status created on 12/2 -- the first night of our recent 12/2-12/10 vacation. Our arrival was bumpy (the system assigned us a 1BR unit instead of the 2BR we had booked). To solve the room issue it appears the front desk cancelled and rebooked our first night tossing that night's points into holding!!
When I phoned this morning to review the situation, MS wanted to simply swap the holding points for a reservation I have in January. She noted that she could make this point swap "quickly." This would have meant that my January reservation was booked using the "new" holding points instead of current UY points. Not an entirely bad direction -- but would create problems should I choose to cancel the January reservation. I was surprised at the resistance I met suggesting that we reverse the holding points "correctly." In a weary voice the CM reminded me that my January reservation will create holding points if I cancel beyond the proper deadline. While I agree with the theory, I'm holding to an idea that canceling the January reservation should remain my choice not theirs.
Now I feel like canceling the January stay "on principle." It is short 2-night stay at VWL before our 7-night BWV stay booked through RCI. I'd do it (cancel) -- except that our air is already booked using the 9 night stay. The best I could do today was cancel our Dining Plan for those 2 nights at VWL. Sigh.
