Continental Airline is offering the following because of Frances:

"Continental is providing the option to reschedule or reroute your travel once, without a penalty, if you are ticketed to/from/through one of the cities listed below for travel through Friday, September 10, 2004. Travel must be completed by September 30, 2004.

Orlando, FL (MCO)"

I can't travel again by September 30, so if I want to reticket under the above option for a later date, I will be charged $100 per ticket.

A helpful Continental agent offered the following advice. She said that if the flight is cancelled, I will receive a flight voucher for the full price of the ticket. My flight is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, so I'll keep checking to see if it is cancelled.

Continental's operations page now says:

"Flights in Florida and the Southeast coast may be delayed or even cancelled due to Hurricane Frances as early as Friday morning. A decision on flights into Florida will be made by 6pm central time this afternoon (02SEP)."

If the flight isn't cancelled (and I can't imagine that it won't be), I'll call tomorrow morning to try to figure another way to avoid the change fee.

So check with whatever airline you were going to fly this weekend to determine their policies.

I changed my ticket today with Song. I rebooked for February 2005 and was only charged the difference in ticket price.

It was just announced that MCO will be closing at noon tomorrow, so flights scheduled after that time will be cancelled.

I was due to arrive tomorrow at 6pm on Northwest. Yesterday they told me I could reschedule until 9/8 with no charge, but if I wanted to fly after that date, I would be subject to a rescheduling fee.

I called them back as soon as I heard the airport will be closed. They said since my flight has been cancelled, they will now refund the airfare. I imagine the other airlines will be doing the same.

If the outoging flight is cancelled, ask for a cash (or credit card) refund. Also ask for a cash refund if it looks lke the return flight will be cancelled.

Alghough the experince will be much less magical, some folks may fly down anyway on non=-cancelled flights rather than worry about airline change fees.

Please check with your airlines as some are canceling flights into Orlando for Fri . Only early morning flights out of Orlando are leaving I quess they don't want the aircraft in Orlando when the Frances hits.

This is info I received at work - probably a lot of you have heard this already, but just in case - Orlando (MCO) will close at noon tomorrow, September 3, 2004 and will be closed through Sunday, September 5, 2004.

Paladin,
Where did you read this info? TIA :)

The MCO website is silent but based on Charlie that may be a best guess estimate.

Sections of roof were torn off and half the jetways were damaged. It sounds like they are concerned about the people movers that get us from the terminal to the gate areas.
