I did not mean to say anything to hurt your feelings sweetie- I was just ticked at disney for their sizing and that they hyped them so- I think they are pretty and I think everyone has their own taste . I worked in a bridal shop for 7 years so I have seen a lot of dresses and I was just really expecting a WOW and I think they look like any other line of wedding gowns - some of them I like some of them are ok. I was a size 8 in street clothes at the time of my wedding and my gown was a 12 (probably needed a 10 but I did lose weight) - wedding gowns run extremely small and I just think that Disney made a major major mistake here - BRIDES COME IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES DISNEY!
If I were you, and you are considering spending that amount of money (I mean absolutely look at the disney gowns) but also consider Eve of Milady, Lazaro, My gown was an Amsale (you can see me Allison and Josh Trip Report), Alvina Valenta (loved those), Demetrios... and you know what - It your opinion, if you like them say it- I absolutely would!!!! Like I said it is your taste and I do think they are pretty, I was just expecting more so it is my own fault that I am disappointed
I completely understand the size issue as well, but I still think the dresses are so pretty. I prefer simple, elegant styles with bits of details here and there, so thats why I personally thought the dresses were great (for the understated Princess!)
Im currently a size 16 (just lost 16lbs, so I would even say a rather snug size 16) and like it seems with every other overweight bride-to-be on this board, I too feel fat and ugly, so theres no way that Id be able to wear any of the Disney dresses right now (nor do I feel like I deserve to wear any of them right now), but I plan on motivating myself to get there (and I guess Im lucky because I do have the time and drive).
At the same time, over the last few years, Ive become accustomed to not being able to shop in popular stores because they dont carry my size or not be able to wear designer/couture clothes like all my friends (7 for All Mankind, Burberry, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture, Diesel, Lucky Brand Jeans just to name a few of the big-name designers that limit their sizes. Even the Disney Couture clothing that is sold in Nordstrom limits their size to L), so I guess it didnt really faze me to be left out of another couture designers size chart. I dont think it is fair; however it really was Kristie Kellys call (and I believe that all of her other wedding dresses are only available up to a size 14 as well) since the dresses have her label, not Disneys. At the same time, perhaps we shouldnt jump the gun too quickly
the dresses are not available for sale until June and it looks like they are extending the collection with Bridesmaid and Flowergirl dresses in October. Maybe they already have something in the works for plus size dress selections!
AllisonsWonderland- I do love your wedding dress and your wedding hair style!! Where did you get it done? Its super cute, and its nice because it looks like your hair was a just about shoulder length to begin with (I really dont want to grow mine out) Your whole over all look of your wedding party is so pretty (I love that flamingo color too!)
When I first saw your pictures when I joined the boards back in January, I even asked DF if it would be bad if I copied your wedding dress and colors and he just laughed. At least hes not opposed to pink! Unfortunately, I dont have the chest to be able to pull off a sexy V-front like that, especially backless! I wish I did though! Were you able to wear any support system underneath?
This is the actual dress I am considering. Its by Piccione Bridal. I wont dare try anything on for another year, though. I do like it better than some of the Disney dresses, however one never knows what anything will look like once its actually on the body!!
