Hi

Just wondering what to expect at check-in (we are stying at the BWV's, in a few short weeks!)

I guess what I mean is......
Is there any leeway if you don't care for the room they want to put you in?

We only made one request at booking to be put next door to another family we are traveling with.
We'd love to be on the 1st floor by the Luna Pool.

Any feedback would be great!

Thanks in advance!!!

Depending on your check-in time, if it's before 4:00 pm, you can expect to get a little card with a telephone number on it. They'll tell you to call the number later in the day to get your room assignment. If you're lucky, you room will be ready, but that's only happened to us once, at the BCV.

Requests at DVC resorts are just that.....requests. When we request a smoking room, we get a non-smoking. When we request a non-smoking, we get a smoking......It really is madness......

Anyway.......I believe that if you check-in & want to change rooms, there is a $25.00 charge to do so......

I Hope This Helps! :sunny:

When we have requested to be near another party at BWV they have always tried to do that. It would be good to remind the CM about your request when you check-in. No guarantees, of course.

Remember that the first floor villas have landscaping around the patio and you are really not supposed to go through the shrubbery. Plus you can't lock your patio door from the outside. I would think this view would be noisy.

I would request as much as important to you and list them in order of importance. I made no requests for my March trip...except for the Medical Necc. NS room...and I was very sorry I got 2 horrible location(for me) rooms. I vow to never do that again...I will always make requests(I know they aren't gaurentees)

I agree with Tink10, they are only requests. We have checked in twice at Hilton Head and requested a change and been told the resort was full. I do believe they try to work with you but sometimes you are just stuck for better or worse. We have always made the best of it. I have heard the earlier you check in the more likely you are to get your requests granted. Not sure if that is true but it seems reasonable. Good luck!

Don't know about other resorts but at OKW the last three times we checked in we were given a choice of several rooms. The last one was a studio and the one I picked had a nice view of the roof of our building and a limited view of the golf course walkway between two buildings but the building did have an elevator which was a plus. Even when you get to pick it may not end up being what you had hoped for. Our very first stay at DVC was at BWV in a studio. We overlooked the Luna pool and it would have been great except it was a HA room where the water from the shower ran to the end of the bathroom by the toilet if you didn't stand directly over the drain and use the hand held shower head (learned the hard way) and the balcony had a solid facade instead of the open rails so if you wanted to watch anything you had to stand up. Didn't want to pay the fee to change rooms just for the view so stayed put and had a great time- we weren't in the room long enough for it to matter. The only request we had both times was non smoking and near a pool. I will be calling today to add requests to current Sept and Dec. ressies as I forgot to ask that the rooms be close together in addition to the non smoking request. Since arrival days are not the same this may be a little tricky but will at least ask. I'm guessing requesting to be near another room may severely limit the possibilities. Hope you have a great trip no matter where your room is located.

We checked into OKW on Sunday night/Monday a.m. (1:30 a.m.), April 9th for 4 nights in a Studio.

Since we weren't sure if we would have a car, we did ask for close to HH and non-smoking for medical reasons.

We ended in bldg 23 (again)(have been to OKW in 11/05 and 4/06 and had Bldg. 23 both times), in a N/S n/HA room on the 2nd floor. It was a corner room with a fairly small balcony (not sure how large they normally are at OKW studios). It felt very secluded due to landscaping. If you stood up, you did have a fairway view. We don't tend to spend a lot of time on the balcony anyway, so it wasn't a problem for us.

I was kind of surprised to have all of our requests met with such a late checkin, but they were obviously pre-assigned as she had everything printed in advance and setting on the back counter. There were still 4 more parties to arrive after us (if the number of papers/tickets pre-printed) were any indication. I did mention that we weren't the last to arrive and the CM agreed with me.

We were very pleased as it was close enough to walk to pool, to borrow board games, etc.
