Check-In procedures at Disney Restaurants

I'm not sure when this was updated, but Disney has changed their system that they had used when you check at the podiums. In the past, when you would check in, they would write your name and dining time on a piece of paper and then manually sort everything. Now when you check in, you are given a printed receipt with your name and party size and your actual check in time. Some host/hostess actually walk around with hand held devices.

Under the old system, people that would arrive late always bumped people that had checked in early. In years past, I would always watch people check in and bump us.

We just spent two weeks eating at Disney in July. It didn't matter which restaurant and it didn't matter what time of day we were eating, we didn't wait more than five minutes to be seated.

Was anyone else impressed with this new streamline process?

Interesting... I haven't experienced the new process yet -- our last trip was this past January -- but it does sound like an improvement.

We did notice the new system with the hand held seating and reservation device. We didn't receive any paper slip, however, we are a party of 2 and generally never have to wait long. I do like the new system though it semms to speed things up. We didn't see as many people waiting outside the restaurants as we did before. Disney seems to be on top of things again.
