Check in paid upgrade question

Has anyone asked or been offered a "paid" upgrade to concierge at checkin at the AKL? I know some have done it at WL and wondered if it happened at the AKL.

I asked for it once... I was quoted the difference between a regular room and a concerige room. No deal or discount at all.

Asked for a King Bed room at DXL way back when it was still called that and she quoted me the price difference. It was December too, not that crowded. It was just me and my husband then, pre kids.
