I know in the entire scheme of trip planning this is probably a very silly thing to be worried about but I am a little confused about concierge check-in. Now first let me set the stage, DH, myself and 3 kids will be traveling from NJ for 2 days. You can imagine what the car looks like by the time we arrive (LOL). Last year we self-parked at the Polynesian, went in to check in, came out staightened up the car and then had someone bring us to our room. DH does not want to valet park since we do not touch the car our entire stay.

My questions are:

Who do we tell we are staying concierge?
Do you check in first and then unpack the car or do you unpack the car and then check in?
Does the person with your luggage hang around until you are checked in?

For some reason I am really nervous about this (please don't laugh). We tend to have alot of "stuff", I really need to organize everything before someone comes to help bring us to our room.

When you pull up to valet, you tell the person who comes over to your car that you are checking in and staying concierge. At this time, they will unload your car.

If you want to self-park. They will unload your luggage and then your DH can go self park the car. They will happily follow him out in one of the golf carts if he doesn't want to walk back up.

Don't worry about your car! I'm sure they have seen everything. They know we are all on vacation and many of us have traveled far with messy children. You should see the mess we make when we travel!

As for checking in. After they have unloaded the luggage, they will then place it all in one of their large golf carts and you will ride with the bell hop up to the conciege building. This is where you will check in.

We had so much stuff last year that I actually had to hold on to some of it so it wouldn't fly out of the cart on the way to the Concierge building. LOL!

Have a great trip :)

This is what I would do.

Stop at a rest area about an hour from WDW (probably the Daytona area for you). Get the kids out of the car, and spend five minutes letting them run off some steam while you repack and organize everything, throw out food wrappers, juice boxes, etc. (You don't want those festering in the car for a week anyhow, and it's easy to do when there's a garbage can right next to your car at a rest area.) That way when you pull up to the font entrance at the PR you are organized and ready to go!

When you get to the guard shack let them know you are concierge guests. Someone from bell services will meet your car and load your luggage onto a golf cart, as well as everyone in your party. The self-parking lot is actually close enough that once the luggage is out of the car, DH could move it to the self park lot and return about the same time they finish loading the cart with the luggage, you and the kids.

Usually bell services has called the concierge desk and if your room is available, you'll be taken directly there. You can settle in adn the go to the concierge desk to check in when you're ready. If your room isn't ready, they'll also know that, and they'll take you luggage to staorage after they take you to the concierge desk so you can check in.
