There will just be two of us traveling my 4yo son and myself. We just neet to get to Disney from the airport. We are arriving early in the day and my girlfriend from Michigan and her son are arriving later and renting a car then. (her work is paying for it so we have to do it that way). We will then return to the airport with them for our return flight.

Therefore, we just need one-way transportation to WDW. We are not in a huge rush so time is not an issue. Cost is my #1 priority. Would anyone suggest the bus? I see that a bus is only $1.75 and it seems like there is one transfer on the way to Downtown Disney. So we would catch the bus at the airport, transfer once for the bus to Downtown Disney and then catch another bus there for the resort.

How easy is this? Would you suggest it with a 4 yo and probably two pieces of luggage and a backpack?

I saw that Mears is anothe option. However at $17 for me and $13 for him and then the tip this could be a nice meal out for us in the park if we find another way around it.

My other thought is a cheap one day car rental. Do any of the rental companies have sites on property that we could return the car to without having my friend drive us all the way back to the airport?

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Julie

The cheapest way is the LYNX, city bus. You will have to transfer. Go to their site for more info.

Next, is Mears.

I found out that Alamo/National is on site so I can drop off the car at the Disney car care center without going back to the airport. I am checking for a cheap one day rental. Right now I have $35.49 without doing too much research for codes etc. I might go with that since it is about the same price as Mears but will give us flexability to stop by the grocery store, etc.

Sorry, I just can't suggest that you and your young son, with luggage take mass transit that you are unfamiliar with. Do you really think you can manage the luggage and your child on a possibly crowded, standing room only bus? There is no one to help you with your luggage on mass transit, and although someone *might* give up a seat, it's not required.

Take Mears, there are often discount coupons floating around that will save you $6 or $7. In the long run it will be much less stressful.

Also, I might be wrong, but I think the only place on WDW property that Lynx stops is the TTC.

A one day car rental is going to cost you about $50 by the time you get done paying fees and taxes.

I agree with ducklite. She's NOT wrong about the LYNX bus - it only stops at the TTC. Go with Mears if you decide not to rent a car.

Best wishes -

If your son hasn't reached his 4th birthday there is no charge for Mears.

I wouldn't want to use Lynx with a 4 year old and luggage. If your budget is that tight I'd have cut way back on your luggage, have your girl friend bring an extra bag for your stuff.

Thanks everyone for your input. Thanks also for the coupon link, but it is for a round-trip ticket and we only need one way. (If anyone finds a coupon for one-way please let me know.)

My son is turning 4 either the day after or the day that we arrive at Disney (I haven't book airline tickets yet) - so he will be 3 and 364 days or just turning 4 - I guess that might be close enough to 3 to ride for free.

I have found most Disney related things to be under 3 for free, so it was nice to find out that 3 is free for Mears.

Thanks!!!!!

Julie

Anne- AFAIK all the Mears coupons are only valid for R/T and OP is only look for transportation FROM the airport to Disney.
