Cheapest way to purchase AP?

I am staying 7 nights in November and am considering an AP. I'm fortunate enough to travel to Tampa a few times a year for work- so I can occassionally sneak in a weekend trip! It doesn't seem like it will cost much more to buy an AP than it would to get a 7 day pass (I only go to the 4 main parks); if I do the AP then I would have it to use on my little "bonus" weekend trips.

I had an AP a few years back and I purchased it at the ticket booth at Animal Kingdom. Between the days in the park and the hotel discount it MORE than paid for itself! However, I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper way to get it?

There do not appear to be any discounts on the AP so the price is the same regardless of where you buy it. (There is a small discount when you renew)

you can get a discounted AP at SOG.

If you are travelling w/ a member of your family who's in the military, can they buy your AP? Do you have to show millitary id at the gate?

the discount for buying at the SOG is the saving on the tax, they dont charge tax.
