Hi Folks, wondering when the cheapest time of year to go is? I just returned from a five night six day trip. We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside in a Royal Guestroom. We bought a five day park hopper and got the dining plan for free. We also purchased insurance through Disney and the Photopass Plus. We paid about $200 total for our flights due to points. All in all, we paid under $3000 for our trip, which included spending about $300 on extras and $100 on parking.

Ultimately, I'm wondering if there is possibly another time to go cheaper? I started looking for next year, and I am beginning to think that it is hard to beat the low room rate and free dining in September. This year we spent some extra money on stuff like upgrading to the Royal Guestroom and the Photopass Plus. I know those can be take off the table, but I'm starting to feel like September may ultimately be the most inexpensive route.

Any thoughts or experience appreciated! Have you found a cheaper time of year to go?

Sorry. I should add this was for a family of four, which includes. 2 and 3 year olds.

The only time that might be a teeny bit cheaper is January. Rack room rates are a smidge cheaper in January. If you Google "Disney Value Seasons" you can see the hotel pricing for the whole year. Whether or not January or September proves to be the better value for you will depend on what discounts are offered, and which one proves to be the best value for your family. Sometimes it's free dining, sometimes it's the room only discount that will save you the most. Tickets are the same price all year, so it really depends on room and food costs.

I was on a website once and it had the dates and the 'phase' that is was (ie: phase 1 was the cheapest, phase 2 the next tier) January (after the holidays so Jan 6) to mid February was the cheapest.

We booked the first week of February for POR. 5 nights including meal plan, 5 day tickets (no PH) for 2A and 1 C was about $2600... it was only $200 more then when we went in march with free dining. If I remember correctly the price goes up after the second week.

Thanks! I found the seasons information for room rates. It is helpful.
