We were wondering what the cheapest price you guys have found for renting a car a week in Orlando? Did you use a website or any rental codes? And what was the price? Thanks
Laurie and Jared

Dollar:
Weekly Rate $134.99 per week (x2 Weeks)
with unlimited mileage
Base Rate: $269.98
Taxes, Surcharges And Fees
STATE TRANSACT TAX $28.70
VEHICLE LICENSE FEE $6.58
APT CONC RECOV FEE $27.10
STATE TAX $21.60
Total Estimated Charges $353.96

This is for a compact - Dodge Neon or comparible. I have a coupon for a free upgrade and I'm hoping they won't be out of intermediates. Used a code from www.mousesavers.com - her transportation section is fantastic!

Sign up up their Fast lane program. We got there and there was a long line of people waiting and we just walked up in our own special line and were out in less then 5 mins. Couldn't have been easier.

Just remember the cheapest is not always the best deal. I only rent from Dollar and National. I've gone to WDW over 25 times in the past 5 years and have always rented a car (sometimes 2 when our party is bigger). I like these 2 because they are inhouse, they usually will have pretty good deals, pickup and drop off are easy and fast, and neither expects a credit card for holding the deposit. I mention the last one because I often bounce between the 2 companies when they start competing with good rates. I'm also an EA member, so will always go with national even if the rates are a little higher, just for the convenience. I tried the offsite companies once and while they are good companies, my vacation time is valuable and I won't waste one minute of it, especially if it's only because of a few dollars.

As for specials...right now National is having a super rate with the discount codes and coupons from mousesavers (even better from private companies). I have a intermediate for 8 days for $118 before taxes and fees for my early Feb. trip. However, there hasn't been any great deals out that I've found for my Spring trip. But I'm hopeful.

It all depends on what size car you want and when you're going. We need a full size car so we've found our cheapest rates for June through Budget. We also don't have a credit card, only a debit card, which further limits our options. The coupons get better as it gets closer to your travel dates, so keep checking for the best rate. The only thing I've heard is to avoid Alamo -- they are the official WDW car rental company and the lines are long and slow.

I just came back and had an intermediate reserved through National (EA) for $90 including all taxes and fees for 5 days. We used codes found on mousesavers.com plus an entertainment coupon. We ended up picking out a jeep which was perfect for the warm weather we had!! :)

You may want to look at this site to compare prices that others have gotten through bidding on Priceline. The site asks for individuals to post their deals. Pretty easy to understand.
www.biddingfortravel.com

You can look for other area's besides Florida. You can also check pricing for hotels, and airfare. I ended up saving the site on my favorites list for future use.

I just reserved a full size car for the 7th thru 14th of Feb for $134.99 total. I am also reserving a full size from the 11th thru the 18th (Presidents week) for my sister for the same price, Hertz. I always rent with National but they are about $45 higher for the same class so I can't justify it. I know Hertz is off site but I read it's a pretty easy shuttle. I used an entertainment coupon which gave me $20 off plus it takes 10% off the whole rental. I thought this was a great deal. Even bidding Priceline at $15 a day it comes out to more than that when adding on fees and taxes.

I've mostly used Dollar when visiting Orlando, and Alamo a couple of times.
I didn't take the car option for our trip this coming May as we thought we would try without a car. Since then we've decided to use a car and found that using Airline Network was much cheaper than booking direct with Dollar, and the car is rented from Dollar.

I found Alamo cheapest without any codes! I rented a compact 4door automatic for 9 days for $186, including tax and fees.

I tried a couple mousesavers codes and nothing was cheaper.

Some car rental agencies are not in the airport, you have to take a shuttle, so be wary.
