Based on the "absolutely fabulous" info. provided on the "cheapest DVD player" thread, I'm hoping that someone has the inside track on the portable DVDs for the plane and car trips. Thanks so much. Threehearts

I recently saw an ad in I believe it was a Walmart sale paper for a portable DVD player for $249. I just saw it and now I can't find it...sorry. Check them out or maybe Target.

Good Luck!

I purchasd the Initial at Walmart for $197. The RCA unit was $497. I charged the battery last night and played part of a movie (Disney of course) and it seems to be fine. It came with a automotive cigarette lighter adapter, ac adapter, and rechargeable battery.

There were also cables for connecting to a regular TV. This is why I bought it. We have a 9 inch ac/dc TV/vcp for the car that we use on our trips to the World. Many of the newer movies we have bought for the kids are on DVD so I needed a DVD player that could be hooked up to the TV/vcp.

I have already thought of tons of uses for it...even watching movies while using my treadmill. LOL

I just purchased the one that Target has, it was just on sale last week for $349. Originally it was $399, it is very nice with a 5.4 inch screen that attaches to the headrest of the seat. I actually got a really good deal since I picked up a part time job at Target for the holidays and got the employee discount. They also sell an additional screen for it so for our van each kid has its own screen. I have been looking at them for over a year and this was the first time I saw it go on sale. So I pretty much jumped on it.

I also bought the Initial (brand) portable DVD player from Walmart. It has a 4" screen and all the amenities listed by Minnie's Mate. I haven't had the opportunity to take it anywhere yet, but I've used it around the house and the quality is good. If you want a larger screen, Initial also has a model with a 5.8" screen that's about $75 more. Walmart didn't have it, but I did a search and found it online.

Happy DVD player shopping!
