Please post your expierences. I am not very optimistic with what I am seeing now. We are flying out Oct 1st and returning Oct 10. I was hoping for Southwest $59 each way but right now they are $79. Thanks!

Keep checking! My original flight was $1300 for a family of 5 round-trip through American. Out of the blue I checked orbitz and got 5 round-trip for $580. It is on United (by TED) but to save that amount of $$ I will fly anything!!! :Pinkbounc

I did a lot of searching and finally got non-stop American out of O'hare for 153 per person in Sept. The flights had gone up last time I checked to about 193 per person. I found several cheaper fares but the weren't non-stop and added several hours to each way. Also, they weren't that much cheaper so I didn't see it as that much help.

I used to fly ATA out of Midway - why did they have to leave? :confused3 :confused3

Spirit was a little bit cheaper but again, not much so I stuck with American.

Good luck on your search.

The last couple of times I flew $79 Southwest (each way) out of Midway to Orlando. And that was only because I got the tickets on the day Southwest released the schedule! I am not sure if you will get much cheaper than that now.

I booked my airfare last Wed. on Spirit out of OHare st 86.00 esch way for 2 people in November for a total of 381.00. Out of curiosity I look today at the same flights and it was listed at 353.00 each way for a total of 1449.00 round trip for 2 people. OMG am I glad I booked when i did!!!!!! I could not believe it went up that much in less than a week!!!!! Last year I got Spirit for 64.00 each way in December.

Lately the Chicago market has been all over the map. I find that anything $200 per person or less (round-trip total with taxes) is a good deal. If the price you found is acceptable and it's for the times you want, you may want to go ahead and grab it instead of risking the fares going higher.

I hope you have "Ding" downloaded...... about a week ago there was a Ding fare that totalled 105.00 round trip per person!!!!

Right now there is a Ding fare to Tampa that I priced for our September dates. With all the taxes and fees it comes to about $120 RT. I am going to hold off and see if I can get one to Orlando, as we were planing on using ME and not renting a car.

I am looking for cheap Chicago airfare for September as well. I just keep checking back evrey day. I really prefer to use United (or Ted) since I have 3 $50 vouchers from that will expire in August. Last year I paid $125 on Ted in September, so now I am spoiled and only want to pay around $150 total per person. I only will fly O'Hare though as it takes about an hour to get to Midway from where I am, and 20 minutes to O'hare. I will just keep watching. Often best fares are not released until about 6-8 weeks before the flight, so I am not worried yet.

Booked SW for 175pp/RT the day they came out. Hoping for a ding so I can get a credit, but we'll see. We are going in Sept, too, and the ding that originally came out was for travel before Sept. 12, and we are going on the 25th. Almost booked United a few weeks ago at 193pp - but that was the closest I saw. Although, I am a bit picky...want a nonstop flight that leaves CHI early in the am (so I can get a full Disney day! :Pinkbounc ) and leaves to come home later at night. (Again, the full day.) FWIW, my parents are big "deal getters" when it comes to FLA flights, and they try to stay under 130 per person/RT. They usually get it, but my mom is always researching, and is very patient. If you are able to check everyday, and can stand the suspense...you could try to see what comes along.

I'm sure they'll be some deals, but I wasn't sure with the rumors about the price of gas going up, so I didn't want to risk it. (Speaking of risk, boy am I glad I didn't take that United flight!)

Good luck! :earboy2:

We are going August 13-20 and got our tickets for $165 each on AA. I am still waiting for the special DING fare so I can arrange a late fall weekend trip, too!

I definately have ding downloaded and am keeping my eyes peeled. I hope I can find something between 5-600 or of course cheaper. I think I could get dh to agree to that. Otherwise for $700 he says we will drive! Oh please! Oh please let there be something I don't think I could take that drive again!

The October prices for SW haven't been released yet so you still have plenty of time.
I'm looking for Sept. 30-Oct. 3 or 4 with SW so I'm still waiting.
I also so miss ATA!! :sad2:

They released the dates for SW to Oct 28th they did this over the weekend. That is what kind of has me in a tizzy, I told dh we could fly there for 5-600$. Thinking that SW would be $59 each way which was what I was seeing. But it came out for Oct as $79 each way. Now personally its worth it to me not to drive but not to dh. He said I only have to ride anyway. I am just not a huge car fan.

I so agree.
Who wants to be sitting in a car when you can be at WDW?????
With the price of gas I still think it's cheaper to fly, not counting the wear and tear on your car also.

The cheapest we've flown to MCO from MDW was this past February for $39 each way. We're SW frequent fliers (even though we don't fly that often) and received a postcard with a one-time code for 20% off of all fares, even sale fares. Spirit Airlines out of O'Hare had some pretty low fares around the same time because we were debating whether or not we'd drive to O'Hare when we got the postcard and booked MDW. Good luck!

O'hare roundtrip non-stop $160 per person on American.

There was a story on the national news this week indicating that SW and all of the discount carriers followed the majors over the past two weeks and raised airfares around $6 to $10 per flight.
